Fossetts farm? Please Change the name

i just hope its not a make stadium such as ricoh, jjb ect. even though it gets the club money i think the name for a stadium is very important. fossetts farm would suit me fine. quite like it actually and has a bit of character about it too.

The Marie Stopes Fertility Clinic Stadium...?

I've said all along I would rather it was called the New Roots Hall. However, if a substantial amount of money was paid for it to be sponsored I wouldn't turn it down. I would hope that the sponsor would be something in keeping with sport/football in general and, more specifically Southend United.

That doesn't even come close...get it...:p :p :p

I don't think it should be called 'New Roots Hall' as RH was named after the site it was built on, and FF is a good couple of miles away from it....

Fosset's Farm / Stadium would be fine by me but I'm without doubt that it will get a corporate sponsor.

I agree. It should not have links back to the old ground because people will make a link back to the old ground which may not be a good thing if they want to come and support the team for the first time.

And it may well be that the club will get a corporate sponsor but they may resist temptation to name the whole ground after them. What happens if that sponsor changes, do we rename the ground? Far better to have logos and stuff from the sponsor in and around the ground rather than naming it after them.

Fossetts Farm or something with that in it would seem logical as thats what people have been calling it since it was a proposed location.

Dont know about "Fossetts Farm Stadium" as that would have the initials "FFS" and we all know what that means (even us oldun's)!

Although it can be reflection of the crowds comments during some of the less memorable performances.

Or maybe it will act as a link to the past for returning fans? I don't think anyone will mistake it for the old stadium, or get confused/put off by the name.

I do, however, recognise that Roots Hall was named after the house that was there originally, and I accept that Fossetts Farm has nothing to do with it. I just think it would be nice to have some consistency which in years to come will act as an acknowlegement of our Roots if you'll excuse the pun.
