Foran's Interview

EastStandBlue

Life President
Having just watched Richie Foran's interview after yesterdays game, Im more convinced of Tilly's purchases than ever. You can see exactly how much his goal meant to him and how he is totally commited to the cause of keeping us up.

Theres no doubt in my mind that, replacing the likes of Ricketts with Macca and Foran, players who are here to play for Southend and not because its their job to play, is the sole reason we have come out of the drop zone for the first time since September.

I hope Tilly doesn't just recruit on playing ability, but also on character.

It might be harder to sign players who have both, but I think its worth waiting for.

Many people wanted us to sign as many players as possible. The difficulty is that we were a team already short on confidence. I think signing players short on confidence (as most players who haven't been playing regular first team football will be, or players anxious about making the step-up) wouldn't help the team's already fragile confidence. Signing an experienced-pro who has probably been playing a similar level and style of football in Scotland was an astute move.

From the beginning Ive liked Foran's attitude.

Any player who on his home debut flicks the ball on and then isnt afraid to scream at the teams star player for not running onto it shows me he has a no fear attitude.

Still want to see how he does up front but certainly looks to be another good Motherwell buy!

I like his'' It's about Southend Football Club and not me ,attitude'' whereby the result and Three precious points is the most important thing ,and you can tell by watching the interview that he is absolutely genuine about it .Nice to see in a World of Greedy and Selfish Players .Forget the Premiership Mercenaries ,give me the Championship every time .

In the Echo tonight he reckons that goal was the most important of his career so far because of the everything that was at stake.

He also avoids the really expensive boots in favour of cheap old fashioned ones and reveals that the other players take the mickey about it - but he doesn't mind because it's all part of the banter and team spirit. He once played for Motherwell at Ibrox in a pair of £25 boots he had just bought from ASDA.

The guy is quality - another superb Tilly signing.

Anyone else want to join F.A.R.T.? (See signature)

What a legend.

Count me in fbm. The game might have been scrappy last night but oh what a joy walking home with another three points under our belt.
I was almost dancing back to Leigh!!
