Football Management Games

Lester Bangs

Manager
So, now the winter evenings have closed in and I've just seen an advert for the new series of 'I'm a celebrity......' I've decided that I need some new evening pursuits.

I've decided to buy a football management and I've no idea which one to purchase. After looking through some websites I've narrowed it down to either

Can anyone give me their recommendations and help me decide which one to get. Many thanks

See thats my problem, after doing a bit more digging it appears that FM2008 is potentially a great game but needs patching whereas CM isn't held in such high regards these days (not like back in the day when it was THE football management sim)

Reckon I'll get the FM and hope the patches come quickly.

Football Manager is the real successor to the Championship Manager games which you mention. EIDOS split with original developers Sports Interactive to go it alone, however the results of their endeavors was a crap imitation.

You have the right idea - either buy FM07 for cheap and patch it up to this year's teams or buy 2008 and wait for the patches to be released.

Mr Benedict is right. You should go for the much cheaper FM2007, go online and get the most up-to-date patch and play last season's version.

I tried FM2008 again the other day and it's just not ready yet. I don't trust it in the same way I trusted FM2007.

Thanks all for the help FM2007 it is. I'm off out to pick it up now - farewell evenings and social life.

I'm still in love with CM 01/02

Southend are always in the top 3 of the Prem, I took N Ireland to the World Cup Semis, Southend won 7 UEFA cups, 3 FA Cups and a couple of Carling Cups.

My coaches include Shearer, Beckham and Batitusta

:)

I'm actually procrastinating with CM93/94 as we speak. What a game!

Naps is right though, CM01/02 was as good as it ever got.

FM07's a good buy. Better than 08 at the moment, but the patch should sort that. You want to go to sortitoutsi.net and search for "7.0.2 patch". And you may want to think about dowloading a new skin - the one on 07's a bit crap.
