Fondly Remembered

Chris Powell
won by a mile. The man with the wide and warming smile made 290 appearances for the Shrimpers between 1990 and 1996 and the fans embraced him like a brother. Always welcomed back with a cheer ...

Best Forgotten

A far closer contest but Ronnie Whelan takes the title for his disastrous tenure at the helm of Southend United between 1995 and 1997 which, some say, precipitated the demise of the football club ...

So, we have our "chosen ones". But does anyone fancy writing a few lines in 'homage' to these two integral parts of the club's history? If so, send them to mikeinspain@btinternet.com for inclusion in the SZ club history ...

Despite the fact that voting has finished (we'll overlook that since you're new), in which category would you consider sticking Broughton? Is he NOT!!!!! fondly remembered? Or is he NOT!!!! best forgotten?!

And on what basis do you consider nominating him for either on of these categories?

I know the voting is over, but Mel Cappleton should be under fondly rembered. he was not the best keeper at the Hall, but i'll remember him, for telling a steward at the Hall to let me on the pitch to have a photo with him

Quick question, Mike...

Did you conduct the poll because SUFC are to be covered in the WSC feature of the same name?

Hope so, I reckon it must be our turn sometime soon.

Nope.

Nicking the idea for the SZ club history page ...

Does the number 13 in your name take full account of your brain cells?

If so, I would suggest you get a re-count as I fear someone has added a few!
