Man in charge for Fleetwood's first visit to Roots Hall will be Mark Heywood from Northwich (not to be confused with the more experienced Mark Haywood from Wakefield). He is in his second season as a League referee and has refereed Southend three times before.
Firstly the home 2-1 win over Oxford with the yellows going 2-1 to us as well.
Secondly the 0-0 draw at Torquay towards the end of the season where they picked up 4 yellows to our one (Mohsni).
Most recently and most memorably he did this season's fine away win at Chesterfield in the snow, cautioning only Tomlin for over-celebrating (slightly!). So we have a good record to maintain with him. This is his first Fleetwood game.
He has been given a number of Championship matches and his card count is a decidedly average 66 yellows and 4 reds from 22 games.
He will be assisted by regular visitors to the Hall, Gary Evetts from Hertford and Michael George from North Walsham, Norfolk. Michael Bull makes the short journey from Chelmsford to do the 4th Official stuff.
