Flavs at Free Kicks

Boring I know - I'm not going to knock Flavs. He is the best keeper on the books and deserves his place.

BUT... thats 2 free-kicks he has let in now and it needs addressing. His wall-building is poor - ok, not helped by the fact we are a team of midgets. But also, he crouches down to low and from a takers point-of-view, it must give you so much confidence to look up and see a massive gap in the top corner.

Psychcologically (however its spelt!), it must make the take so confident with such a big hole to aim at. And Thornton and Thompson are two of the best in the division.

Anyway, aside from that, Flavs pulled off some great saves again and proves himself as the number 1.

I'm not gonna go on but look at the manager and the midfield and the non league standard strikers. Flavs, Collis, Barratt etc, aint the problem in this league it's other management/players, open your eyes!

I agree and disagree. I agree that the fact he has now let in two free kicks from such a distance in two weeks is rediculous.

However, I disagree that he deserves his place. I am not knocking what Flavs has done for the club in the last few years, but he has not performed recently to his own high standards to warent his place in the side. What on earth has Collis got to do to get a chance?

The worry I have is that Tilly seems totally against any kind fo change, and so would pick the same side over and over again, so not to admit that maybe he should have picked a different side from the start.

It was a big blow missing Kev today, as he is an inspirational player for us, and so today was always going to be very hard, but there I things that Tilly does that I just cant fathom. Why play Harrold and Bradders together, neither touched the ball more than once or twice in the 1st half, but Tilly refrused to take a chance and make the change.

There are just so many things I could go on about, but I dont want to come accross like I think Tilly is clueless or needs the sack or anything like that, and I will be always thankful of the things he has done for us in the last few years.

But also, look at the saves Flavs made today - the double save in particular during the second half was typical Flavs.

He is an annoying entity - a great shot stopper, but with a physical defect!!

Its impossible to say if Collis would have done any better - but I do agree that Flavs, when fit, is a shoe-in. Must be disheartening for Collis...

oh for goodness sake! He's small for a goalie agreed but hardly a midget!

If you're so f...ing tall then get a trial!

I am 5ft 9 - perfect height for a web-designer. Flavs is too short to be a top keeper - thats why he plays for us.

Not knocking the guy and there aint much he can do about it!

hi all, this being my first post i would like to say.

2 freekicks he has let in now. why cant we stick someone on a post to help the guy its that easy. the one against orient would have been cleared no problem.

If you stick someone on the post then you're playing everyone onside and the opposition just have to stick two men on the keeper which presents it's own problems.

and Collis is not as agile so probably wouldn't have done that, swings and roundabouts. Repeat, it's other areas that are the problem!

I tend to agree with you on this one. Except i would be so bold as to suggest it is all areas. However, That in itself should not blind us to the fact that for all flahavans agility he is just too short and consiquently has no chance of developing further as a goalkeeper. Where as, Collis is taller, younger and at present not too far behind on the agility front.

80 odd goals leaked last season and 6 already this, the keeper must take a proportion of the blame surely?
