FC - Match 7

MrB

Life President
ShrimperZone CC v Eppleton CC

Fourth of four matches this season, they won the first but we tonked them in the other two. Wanless makes his debut (on lively fitness), Graham is rested so Hartburn makes what should be his final appearance for the team. Macca promoted up the order to open but not making much of a fist of it at the moment in a sluggish start.

End of Over 9 (Maiden). ShrimperZone CC: 16-0, runrate=1.78
Overs left today: 101
Tucker 5-2-8-0
Cunningham* 11 (20 balls)
Mcleod 5 (34 balls)

Southend v Parkway Sports

Welcome to The Garrison for the match between Southend and Parkway Sports.

We can tell you that Southend won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this sunny day.

Let’s join our team for ball-by-ball commentary.

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 35 (7 runs). Southend: 88-2, runrate=2.51
Overs left today: 75
Sattaur 8-1-22-0
Chill* 32 (96 balls)
Guneratne 2 (3 balls)
Last Wicket: Raisani Run Out 45 (FOW: 79/2)

The newly expanded Garon Park (70,000) once again had it's gate records broken. Much needed right now as we're skint!!

Played a First Class match (4968907) and received £558,324 in gate receipts.

On the pitch, Richie has departed but it's a solid enough start.

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 35 (Maiden). ShrimperZone CC: 107-1, runrate=3.06
Overs left today: 75
Kelly 14-3-31-1
Lamey* 6 (14 balls)
Mcleod 55 (116 balls)

Last Wicket: Cunningham c. Thay b. Kelly 42 (FOW: 92/1)

The players are off the field for tea.

End of Over 70 (8 runs). Southend: 258-3, runrate=3.69
Overs left today: 40
Lias 15-3-56-0
Tsietsi* 83 (107 balls)
Guneratne 80 (99 balls)
Last Wicket: Chill lbw b. Sultan 36 (FOW: 97/3)

Poor from the middle order today, wickets falling steadily this afternoon so we're once again reliant on the all rounders putting a shift in (though there's only two of them this week).

End of Over 75 (1 runs). ShrimperZone CC: 229-5, runrate=3.05
Overs left today: 35
Tucker 20-5-60-1
Sinethemba* 31 (42 balls)
Benjamin 0 (10 balls)

Last Wicket: Wanless b. Tucker 9 (FOW: 226/5)

All rounders have come up trumps again.

End of Over 101 (6 runs). ShrimperZone CC: 331-6, runrate=3.28
Overs left today: 9
Lawrenson 26-7-78-2
Sinethemba* 78 (118 balls)
Marriott 27 (45 balls)

Last Wicket: Benjamin c. Neal b. Ogden 26 (FOW: 280/6)

Pretty much a perfect day for me. 360-6, no one player knackering themselves with a big score and we can declare overnight and have a go at them in tomorrow's cloudy conditions.

Not quite sure why Barrowdale dropped from Sublime to Energetic though seeing as he was sitting in the pavilion the whole day.

End of Over 110 (Maiden). General Stars: 447-4, runrate=4.06
Foy 24-2-69-1
Raven* 39 (73 balls)
Waterhouse 116 (129 balls)

Last Wicket: Browne b. Williamson 177 (FOW: 345/4)

Very good day and will declare on 450 and let my bowlers do the hardwork!!

swycc v BATTY SHRIMPERS

Playing the side that I should have hammered, but I was on holiday and couldn't set a 2nd inns declaration. Should win, just a case of how long it takes.

We can tell you that swycc won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking like a road. As flat as a pancake. No help for the bowlers on this partially cloudy and humid day.

End of Over 29 (Maiden). swycc: 78-3, runrate=2.69
Trail by 286 runs. (BATTY SHRIMPERS 364-2 dec)
Frazer 7-2-16-0
Cornwall* 15 (38 balls)
Tau 41 (78 balls)

Last Wicket: Snatch c. Evelyn b. Singh 4 (FOW: 30/3)

Three Stumps v DIBS DIPPERS

Top-of-the-table Mrs BB takes on the side in 2nd place. Flat Pitch, but PC+H today, so Mrs BB should be able to make some inroads.

We can tell you that DIBS DIPPERS won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking like a road. As flat as a pancake. No help for the bowlers on this sunny day.

End of Over 49 (6 runs). Three Stumps: 114-1, runrate=2.33
Trail by 248 runs. (DIBS DIPPERS 362-2 dec)
Eagles 11-3-15-0
Dick* 40 (74 balls)
Antonius 56 (155 balls)

Last Wicket: Banga c. Stride b. York 12 (FOW: 38/1)

Good start.

End of Over 24 (4 runs). Eppleton CC: 55-3, runrate=2.29
Trail by 305 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 360-6 dec)
Overs left today: 86
Benjamin 4-1-11-0
Stubbs* 23 (40 balls)
Shotton-oza 19 (65 balls)

Last Wicket: Neal Run Out 3 (FOW: 11/3)

I'd also like to LOL at BB's failure to bowl a team out in the SZ Cup with these ratings:

Ath Chorley BATTY SHRIMPERS
Top Order: mediocre phenomenal
Middle Order: feeble sensational
Lower Order: woeful abysmal
Seam Bowling: mediocre phenomenal
Spin Bowling: feeble exquisite
Fielding: woeful feeble

They somehow chiselled out 79-9 in the full 50 overs, bizarre!!

Are friendlies using the new ME yet? I've not been following my friendlies, but that's a score you'd never normally see on BT.

As for my game, we're doing well against 2nd place.

End of Over 27 (5 runs). Parkway Sports: 68-3, runrate=2.52
Trail by 308 runs. (Southend 376-10)
Overs left today: 83
Last 2-0-6-0
Tšeliso* 30 (76 balls)
Croft 8 (26 balls)
Last Wicket: Ameer c. Rennie b. Blaney 26 (FOW: 52/3)

Hmmm, good point. I did notice a few low xxx-9 scores in the SZ friendlies in the last couple of weeks.

End of Over 25 (8 runs). Southend United: 84-3, runrate=3.36
Trail by 224 runs. (Battel Bonfires 308-10)
Overs left today: 83
Reet 7-0-26-0
Wright* 42 (58 balls)
Joost 29 (73 balls)
Last Wicket: Hulse c. Philani b. Allanson 1 (FOW: 10/3)

Hartburn receives an opening bid for his services (he sells at 14:20) and immediately celebrates by taking a vital wicket to break that little partnership.

The players are off the field for lunch.

End of Over 35 (5 runs). Eppleton CC: 84-4, runrate=2.40
Trail by 276 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 360-6 dec)

Overs left today: 75
Hickey 9-3-17-1
Joost* 33 (88 balls)
Gichki 0 (0 balls)
Last Wicket: Wright b. Allanson 53 (FOW: 108/4)

Hindle* 14 (23 balls)
Coyne 80 (146 balls)

Last Wicket: Horne c. Sookram b. Richardson 1 (FOW: 141/5)

Normally I'd be annoyed that they're lingering but today it's a blessing as we desperately need another day's income. Sold reserves Hartburn and Brinkhuys for a combined £1.2m so we're back to full interest for this week but then over the next two weeks our only home game is a BT20 match so the balance will plummet again.

The players are off the field for tea.

End of Over 70 (Maiden). Eppleton CC: 140-8, runrate=2.00
Trail by 220 runs. (ShrimperZone CC 360-6 dec)
Overs left today: 40
Marriott 17-5-26-1
Lawrenson* 10 (21 balls)
Stubbs 67 (160 balls)

Last Wicket: Kelly st. Lamey b. Marriott 6 (FOW: 123/8)

End of Over 18 (4 runs). Southend United: 73-1, runrate=4.06 (1st Inn: 137-10)
Trail by 98 runs. (Battel Bonfires 308-10)
Overs left today: 41
Hickey 7-0-28-1
Marcel* 31 (59 balls)
Wright 31 (42 balls)
Last Wicket: Hoult c. Som b. Hickey 8 (FOW: 8/1)
