fave east stand block

CANV

Coach
well having done the blacks greens and yellows now initial impressions are as follows..

Blacks..  small groups of people in their own social enviroment, very wary of strangers..  must be hell for them when its a sell out..

Greens..the biggest block and its does appear to be the liveliest..looks to contain the north bank refugees that couldnt face going to the west stand as its too far from the spread

Reds.. not been in here but appears to be populated by pipe smoking cap wearers..  on the halfway line so i guess all season ticket holders from 1956

Yellows.. a strange mixture this one, some rather lively chaps along the back attempting to drum up some noise much to the disgust of the season ticket holders in front of them who cant get a ticket in the reds.

Blues.. mystery block, does anyone know how to get in there?

Ive been in there once when I won tickets to see Swansea play. You get in thru the gate on the left hand side of the ticket office at the bottom of the car park. Not the best place in the world to watch a game. Think i'll stick with the greens, thanks.

The blues are ok if you cant be bothered to climb over everyone to get to your seat. Also you can stretch out a bit if you sit on the end. The stewarts dont mind and more or less leave you alone as they want to watch the match as well.

The East Bank has never been the same since they put seats in the paddock. That's where I watched my first ever game from, ah the memories.............

A lot has changed since you watched your first game, though.

They've added a 'D' at the top of the penalty area, introduced floodlights, goal nets and red and yellow cards.

I think i sat down at the Reds/yellows once. Isnt that were the smallest bar in the world is located. I must admit the east greens or the black along the back row is best for me. Good view and a decent atmosphere, well there is a good view anyway

Wonderful view from the East Yellows, friendly bunch of people and although not incredibly vocal we do join in with some of the singing.

I notice that the cry of 'Come on you Shrimpers' is taking the place of 'Come on you Blues'. Is this common elsewhere now?

And funny enough, I agree with you.

As a resident of the East Reds I can confirm that not everybody there is a cap wearing pipe smoker. I prefer the deerstalker myself, and I smoke untipped Senior Service, now thats a proper cigarette.

The bar in the bowels of the stand has its own unique atmosphere and is frequented by Dagenham Kev mad as they come.

Greens all the way.

Although, I haven't sat in the Blacks since about 1997, and I haven't sat in any other part of the East at all other than in the directors box for the Swindon game as part of my prize, so I can't really compare like some people. Although the Greens would still probably be my pick.
