A year ago, almost to the day, Aji Ajibola came to Roots Hall to take charge of our FA Youth Cup Second Round tie against Oxford. Unfortunately the game was out of sight by half time with Oxford scoring thrice and striking the bar, without reply.

Well, Aji Ajibola, from Erith, is back again tomorrow to referee our tricky looking encounter with Barnet at the same stage of the competition.

Barnet visit Roots Hall having beaten Clacton (11-1), Fisher Ath (10-1) then they finally managed to keep a clean sheet beating the Met Police 2-0. They are comfortable leaders of the South East Youth Alliance whereas we are 8th out of 13.

Mr Ajibola is a salesman for Canon Business Solutions and is progressing well in the non-league ranks. Last year he was enjoying his first year as a Level 3 and which meant he could run the line on Conference North/South and referee at Steps 3 to 5 (Ryman Premier to Essex Senior League) ... and of course early rounds of the FA Youth Cup! Now he is running the line in the Conference Premier. Saw him referee at Canvey not that long ago where he had a reasonable, if a little card happy, game.

Travelling expenses should be reasonable with the two assistants Ryan Whitaker and Steve Perry both coming from Bexleyheath.

Don't forget, it's a 7.30pm kick-off if you're going and if it's as entertaining as the last round you won't be disappointed.
