FA Cup Final 2005

Bentley's Absurd Gait

Guest
I've never been to an FA Cup Final, and it's always been something I have on my list of 'things to do before I die'. In 2005, I got two top tickets for the Man Utd/Arsenal final in Cardiff. Obviously, I didn't go, as I would have missed our play-off game against Northampton. My non-Blues supporting friends are amazed at this, but I ask you, would anyone here have gone to the Cup Final? I think not.

I'd have gone to Sarfend-Northampton instead too. No, really.

Anyway, a final in Cardiff isn't a proper one is it? Got to be at Wembley.

Yep. The thing is those people that questioned your decision obviously dont know what its like to really support a club. Might say they support West Ham, Tottenham etc and go 4/5 times a season but i think the only way you can understand your choice is to support your local club through and through. Much more passion. :)

I would miss an England vs Germany World Cup Final at Wembley to see Southend vs Rochdale in the league. I would never choose another game over watching Southend no matter what. (I know this will never happen but just an example of my passion for my club).

You know what, I don't think you will. Passion is one thing, commonsense another.

Club vs. Country is an interesting debate. If I was torn between going to the England vs. Germany World Cup Final or going to Southend vs. Forest Playoff Final at Wembley, I think I would go for the Southend playoff final. I think I'd choose watching the world cup final on tele over an average fixture during the season though, as I am very passionate about my country too.

I asked my friends if they wanted to come with me to Bournemouth away to which they replied that there were still tickets for Portsmouth vs Derby and why don't we go to that? I said 'No, I would rather see my team' and a chorus of "You want to drive all the way to Bournemouth instead of walking 100 yards to watch a premiership match?!" followed. YES! I would always choose to watch Southend over a premiership game! In the end they buckled and came with me to Bournemouth and loved it :)

I was there..... I listened to the play off game whilst driving home. Curiously I never made the play off final as the wife was in hospital having some nasty women's surgery!

I did however give two tickets away for last years final, the first at Wembley.

I was in the same boat and naturally did the same.

Luckily I've been to the two finals since.
