Ex-Shrimpers You'd take Back

Desert Shrimper

The Oil Baron
Which ex-shrimpers would you have back for our forthcoming League 1 campaign? Personally, I'd take:

Michael Kightly (what the hell happened there??)
Leon Britton (trialist for Newman, deemed not good enough.)
Gavin Strachan (quality little player)
Mitchell Cole (always believe in your soooooooooul)
Mark Bentley (he was very consistent, no idea why we got rid of him.)
Dudfield (underrated, never let us down.)

To work the tills in the shop:

Stephen Clark

To operate the telpehone switchboard:

Tes Bramble

Scott Forbes (HANDS DOWN)!!!!
Mitchell Cole
Wayne Gray
Duncan Jupp

lmfaooooo at the stephen clarke and tits-up bramble...

wat about barrington belgrave as the promgramme seller?

Leon Constantine. Maligned and underrated for reasons that I've never understood. Has scored 20+ goals a season regularly for the last few years.

i agree. him and husbands wen husbands was fit would of been greta 2gether if they stayed at southend.

Mark Bentley - Benno is God.

Tommy Mooney - the knees may be going, but he is class. Maybe we could platoon him and Jason Lee, who is probably a better player now than he was when he played for us.

Kightly - surely much improved since he played for us

Risbridger and Rob Newman - Tilly only uses his subs with 2 minutes to go

Leon Johnson - an upgrade over Che Wilson for that utility role, but is on a Bosman and should still be cheap wages

Pettefer/ThurGod - cheap options to run around like a headless chicken in midfield for the 5-10 games next season when McCormack is suspended

Royce - on a free, Southend legend. Won us more games than Flahavan last season.

Half-time entertainment - Dom Iorfa.

To fertilize the pitch - Drewe Broughton

Player/community officer - Sir Chrissy Powell of Wiggle

If we are including triallists I would say the following have improved sufficiently, since their previous time with us , to merit inclusion in our squad

Bobby Zamora
Britton
Kightly
Benson

I think Lord Christopher of Powell could still do a job too , and would be the Spinner/Goat old head off the pitch as well

genius :hilarious:

i'd still take Leon Cort back, regardless of his goal against us. And let me tell you people, one day Trevor Fitzpatrick was going to come good...

Stephen Broad ( when he first came on loan from Chelski version )
Dudfield ( to replace Harrold )

Gavin Strachan is actually a really good shout - at the time he was better than Maher IMO

I think people are misunderstanding the point of the thread (or maybe I am!). I think the question was which current players that have played for us would you take back into our squad for next year....your sansomes and clarks may be a bit passed that, and is Stephen Broad still playing or did he ever go backpacking or whatever he said he wanted to do whilst with us?

For me, Id take Roycie as a back up keeper, Leon Court to provide the aerial power to play alongside Clarkey, Stephen Kelly if we are allowed loanees)Chris Powell to compete at left back with Hammell, Kightly on the wing, Bentley as back up midfield, and Steve Kabba to compliment our strikers (again if loanees are permitted). Adding them to our current squad would leave me feeling VERY confident of automatic promotion.
