Ex Shrimpers in Non League action

I was at Thurrock Vs Eastleigh to witness a very podgy looking Lee Hodges play, and I use the term play very loosely, for Thurrock in their 3-1 win. He was replaced after an hour. Neville Roach came on with about 20 minutes left for Eastleigh and actually showed sime nice touches in game which was devoid of much quality; apart from the Eastleigh travelling support of 16 who were top notch all game.

Former trialists, Kezie Ibe and Jeff Minton both started and played the full 90 for Canvey in a 2-1 win at Burton Albion.

Two more former trial players, Anwar Uddin and Paul Benson were involved for Dagenham in their poor 2-0 home defeat to Scarborough. Uddin started and Benson was a 67th minute substitute.

Ryan Clarke and Damon Searle both played for Forest Green in their 2-2 draw with Halifax.

Former trialist Ben Surey was an unused sub for Gravesend in their game with Rob Newman’s Cambridge side.

Jamie Stuart, Stuart Thurgood and Tony Battersby all started for Grays in their good 2-0 win at Hereford with Battersby notching the first goal. Michael Kightly was an unused sub, while recent trialist Stevland Angus who signed for Grays on Thursday wasn’t in the matchday squad.

Ryan Robinson played in goal for Morecambe in their 3-0 win over a Crawley side missing Neil Jenkins.

Danny Gay, Ben Lewis and former trial player Leke Thanda played for Bishop’s Stortford in their 3-2 home defeat to Weston-Super-Mare.

Luke Nightingale scored for Bognor in a 2-1 win over an Eastbourne including Daniel Marney.

Jamie Southon played for Cambridge City in a 2-1 home defeat to Dorchester.

Former trialist Max Hustwick was included for Lewes in their shock 3-0 home defeat to Histon.

Tom Jordan and ex trialist Rocky Baptiste played for Havant and Waterlooville in their 3-2 away victory at Newport County.

Carl Emberson started in goal for Sutton in a 1-0 home win over a struggling Farnborough side who had Ben Abbey on their bench.

Andy Harris scored for Weymouth in their 4-0 win over Carshalton. Danny Webb also started, with Richie Hanlon coming on during the second half.

Kevin Rapley was in Droylsden’s starting line up in their 4-0 win over Vauxhall Motors who once again had Marek Szmid on their bench.

Lee Nogan was on Harrogate’s bench for their 3-0 home win over Moor Green. Ex trialist Michael Price played in goal.

Mel Capleton, Danny Kerrigan, David McSweeney and Leon Hunter all started for Billericay in their 2-1 victory at Staines. McSweeney and Kerrigan were both picked out for praise.

Stuart Williams was in the Redbridge side who picked up a 1-1 home draw with Windsor in front of just 94 people.

I went to that game. Carshalton only brought about 6 fans. They sang their hearts out, but you would have guessed from kick off, Weymouth were gonna thrash them. The Robins were very average, and that's being nice, and the Terra's just played their usual game.

Very impressed with Andy Harris, who has now got a completely different hairstyle, but what can I say about Webby? Played his usual game, again average, and fell like a sack of spuds every time he was challeneged and moaned when he didnt get a free kick. Will he ever learn?!

That's because he's sh*t!

I went to East Thurrock v AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. The away fans must have outnumbered the home fans by at least 6-1!
