Essex v Warks

BILLERICAY BLUE

Rose Tinted Brigade Member⭐⭐🦐
Must-win game for the boys today. Fortunatley the weather is forcast to be dry for the next couple of days at least.

No Napier, so Palladino comes in, and Mickelburgh comes in for Flower.

Essex lost the toss, but were surprisingly put in by Warks.

Latest score - Essex 11/0 after 4.1 overs.

Is there any news on whether or not Flower will be offered a contract for next season ??

For 2 knocks alone he deserves one IMO, and if he is shipped out to be replaced by a fat pikey reject i will not be happy :soapbox:

from what i remember after the FPT the talk was that he'd been offered a new one year contract for the one day stuff and will only play second eleven cricket in the longer form of the game.

Which was the plan for this season! I'm pleased Mickleburgh has been restored to the side, although I did see the point in playing the more experienced Maunders and Flower last week. Latest: 143-3, with Mickleburgh having just brought up his second conscutive Championship 50.

cracking first day. if we get maximum points and beat warwicks easily we'll put ourselves in with a great chance of promotion.

what a season even without promotion tho. 2 trophies a cup semi and a good season in the champs.

i'm going along friday if the weather holds out.

Great first day. Worcs also got skittled by Middlesex so lets hope Strauss can continue his fine knock from this afternoon and put the pressure on them!

As i feared it took Warwickshire just 14 balls to clear away our tail this morning ... but David Masters has removed Darren Maddy with just the 2nd ball of their reply

Latest score Essex 341ao Warks 13-1

James Middlebrook got rid of Poonia to leave them 85-2, but another half century partnership has rapidly followed the one for the second wicket and they are now 142-2

Warwickshire are well on their way to the draw they will certainly settle for

At 230-2, it's starting to look like a draw is the very best Essex can hope for. Got to keep plugging away and trying for a breakthrough but the hope of promotion seems to fading away for another season.

341-4 i.e. level, with 6 wickets in hand. I don't want to sound pessimistic but they better get some wickets ..........like now! Looks more like they're going to build up a useful lead and we are going to struggle to avoid defeat, unfortunately

350-6 now, need to have them out for under 400 really.

Good to see that Foster comfortably out-batted Tiny Tim.
