Essex v Hampshire Floodlit Cup

What on earth is this floodlit cup? I see something flash up on SSN yesterday between these two sides with regards to using a pink ball.

its a glorified friendly game although if you say that to anyone involved with Essex cricket club they will threaten you with death.

essex have won it the last two years, last year we beat Derby and the PCA masters and the year before Sussex and Derby.

true enough. maybe to get away from the friendly tag they can offer the winners a place in the champions trophy thing along with middlesex.

pink ball is in use again tonight as well.

we usually use a lot of fringe players in these games but tonight we're going for it and cook and bopara are in.

going to go along if the weather holds out.

Jimmy Adams & Graham Napier were on SSN talking about the pink ball, apparently its quite easy to see in the natural light but not so easy at night.

Its chucking cats and dogs at the ground at the moment....
