Essex v Derbys

BILLERICAY BLUE

Rose Tinted Brigade Member⭐⭐🦐
Essex won the toss, and put Derbyshire into bat.

Current score 9-0 off 5.2 overs.

No Bopara, Napier (both off earning megabucks at the IPL) or Cook (fractured finger). MtS makes his debut, but no place for Maunders. We look a bit weak in batting (Foster at 5), but we have plenty of bowling to make use of the new balls they are using.

Edit - can't count, Foster bats at 6, so more batting than I thought.

I see Danny aint back yet!!

:(

Apparently loads of counties are having visa problems, Essex included.

The Home Office have changed the process making it a bureaucratic nightmare. I think the ECB have to sign off on it this year or something and that is delaying things substantially.

A wicket for Wright.

Stewie Law is still on track for his inevitable century.

Can anyone get the commentary working? It keeps crashing firefox:madman:

I'm going to Chelmsford tomorrow, armed with my £12 membership card and A2 revision books. Pleased to see we'll be batting. I've said it now: Derbys 550-9 at close tomorrow, no doubt!

I've come home already. At 12.20ish they went off for the lightest of drizzle or bad light (the rain was light nobody knew which!) and then at 1 it poured down for half hour, so I drove home. Disappointing.

Excellent knock by Essex starlet Tom Westley for Durham UCCE. Tom made the MCC side for their match against Durham last week, and is definitely a name to watch out for.

I did a brief interview with Fozzie (about one-third of the way down the page, click on the link) - what a charming and lovely bloke. I'm sure Flower's appointment as England coach will do him no harm, in his cause to play for England again...

Yessum. Me and Al have got tickets for a 20/20 game against Surrey on the day after my birthday, happy days!!

I have tickets for my birthday too .. vs Hampshire which is the last group match, it could be all settled by then otherwise could be a cracker

Good work, its been ages since I've seen Essex and will be my first 20/20 match aswell so I'm really looking forward to it!

Although Foster & Flower were Essex team mates I remember they had a memorable spat on Fosters' first tour to Zim in I think his first ODI.

Interesting - although there has been plenty of water under the bridge since then, hasn't there?! That has to be 6 or 7 years ago now, doesn't it...? Besides, it shows that the young chap has got a bit of chutzpah about him - which, now he's coach, I'm sure Flower would appreciate!

Indeed it does Matt, I think most judges, including the drone on legs Willis consider Foster the best keeper around. His batting has improved immensely, but whether he will take the place of Matt Prior remains to be seen. Having said that Prior was always viewed as Moores pick so maybe Fozzie may become Flowers. We shall see.
