Essex Fm

I know they said this morning about Kevin Maher missing his brothers wedding due to the final etc but why can't they advertise the final more ? tell people ticket office times etc ??

Invicta FM never shuts up about Gillingham and surely we should be doing the same ?

Just a thought really as i imagine not many people will hear about the ticket office times changing

Indeed they are crap at promoting SUFC, they always have been.

Its about time they really plugged the club and got right behind their local team, which is infact Southend and not Wet Spam.

Sort it out Essex FM you mugs.

However, they have now moved to Chelmsford. So we are no longer Essex FM's local club.

I live in Chelmsford, and have done for the last 12 years or so, and at a guess, based on the number of football shirts worn in the town Wet Spam have a lot of fans up here. Ipswich are probably number 2, followed by the 3 big London clubs.

Alas, more Col U shirts here than Southend one's. Happily, they always get a quick "scum" comment from here.

Essex FM is a dismal excuse for a radio station...on the eve of our 3rd visit to Cardiff in 2 years its nice to know that the C********r goalkeeper has signed a new contract.

I also live in Chelmsford and have done for 10 years and there are more Ipswich shirts in town than anything else! Plenty of O2 shirts too!

Having never seen a C********r shirt around I must be frequenting the wrong type of field!!!!

Keeping the parochial chat going I have seen 3 this week. In Sainsbury's, Springfield, The Meadows Shopping Centre and someone coming out of Riverside Sports Centre.

I'm probably looking out for them more than you are!

Similarly, I am probably more wound up by seeing a Wet Spam shirt than you are, so am more likely to see one. But still more likely to see one than an Ipswich shirt methinks.

You're right lots of Arsenal about.

In Disney I saw half a dozen west ham shirts
two man u shirts
One west brom shirt
and two Southend Shirts! (including mine that makes three that day)
we were top of the league at that point... glory hunters eh?

They would rather promote West Ham!

Which is disgraceful in my view.

The first time they talk about the Wet Spam match rather than the Southend one will be the time that Im get straight on that phone...

Well i eat my hat !

Had radio on this evening on my way home from work and not only did they mention the que going outside the stadium car park BUT they had live callers talking about the shrimpers and they gave tickets away etc !!!

I'm not convinced its just the Radio Station thats to blame but the presenters too. Martin Day in the mornings openly admits he knows jack about football and therefore simply can't talk about it. I remember one early morning presenter who was into his Footy ( cant remember his name) but he wouldnt shut up about his team "Orient". Glad he's gone !!
We need some SUFC footy fans working on there. Not saying they should talk about footy all morning but at least it would get a mention (every 15 minutes).

I'm amazed that they would mention C********r, since it is virtually impossible to get a good reception up here! More likely to tune into Invicta FM than Essex FM.

Whether the music or the presenters on Essex FM are your cup of tea or not - you can't say the radio station hasn't supported the Shrimpers in some way in the build up to Cardiff.

There is one person in the station's newsroom who is a supporter - who does put Southend head and shoulders above West Ham and is there at every home game.....and even at Grim places like Grimsby. In fact it was Essex FM who were leading their bulletins with an interview from Ron Martin on how the team was cheated by the pitch invasion and the referee blowing for time early.....because they were there.

Some people on this forum may have even see their reporter  clamber out of the Echo stand at the end of every game at Roots Hall before he's interviewing the players afterwards. But he's a one man band working in his spare time - not a whole bloody sports team like the BBC have.

Southend United's progress HAS been featured in more news bulletins on the station in the last ten months than at any time since live match reports were last broadcast four or five years ago.

In the last few weeks all the top players have featured at some point, there's been comment from former Shrimpers like Paul Clarke and Paul Sansome as well as Paul Napper from the Trust and even Mc Scriven talking about his web award.

I don't listen to Essex FM but i known I've done a few interviews for the Trust on Essex FM over the last year and one of thier reporters Alex Bish is Blues mad. I know it is difficult for enthusiasts like him to get their views across. A leading light in the Trust works for the Sun on the sports page and is always trying to get snippets into the paper but editoriallly it's premiersh*te, premiersh*te, premiersh*te.

Fairplay to Essex FM (you'd better print this off because I wont be typing that again), today they made a real concerted effort, a complete contrast from yesterday.

Especially Chris Skinner who pointed out about the ticket office and directed people to the part on the Essex FM site.
It was also mentioned on the news quite a few times today.
