I hate this station, Is it Anti-Southend or something?

I was over the moon at getting a point at The Hawthorns, obviously Essex FM didn't feel the same.

It's a well know fact that Essex FM couldn't give a flying f**k about Southend United and never have.
Since moving it's HQ from Southend to Chelmsford it's become even more Col Ewe orientated than ever before.

yeah i heard that too....

we are lucky to get any air time at all, usually its all Wet Spam who aren't even in Essex....the cricket team usually gets a good mention as well.

After last weeks game against Norwich i don't think there was even a mention. They never have interiews or a small match report.

I have to admit i thought this was changing as poeple had complained to the station.

Dont let it bother you mate, all of us with a brain were/are truely delighted with a point at the Hawthorns, im sure Col Ewe would have been, they did of course lose up there!!

We help a team who are good enough for the prem, with a 100% home record to a draw infront of 18000 of their own fans!!

I rang last year and spoke directly to the news Editor last year who said things were going to change for the better..............Bullsh!t. Anyway there is a solution ( not as radical as bombing it ) just vote with your feet so to speak its not like the rest of the programming is worth listening to anyway and dont forget when they were based in Southend they showed no interest and they were were next door to the Spammers Shop !!!!!!!!!!! just turn it off

Yes, there really is. There's no launch date as yet, but I would expect it would certainly be up and running by this time next year.

As for availability on the net, don't know about that one...

What is sure, though, is that they have promised always to give coverage to the Shrimpers FIRST before they cover any other not-so-important teams like the hamsters. As for Col U - well out of their range....

Just had a look back at when I posted on this earlier in the year. It was actually one of Southend Radio's rivals that put in the bit about covering West Ham, the reason they gave in their application being "anecdotally more West Ham supporters live in Southend than Southend supporters!"

Southend Radio, in their application for the licence, said this:

On Saturdays, the extended lunchtime news bulletin will have a sports focus on Southend United games and other local amateur and professional clubs. We have budgetary provision for licensing and expenses for live match reports from Southend United for home and away games.
