Gills can match anyone - Onuora
Joint caretaker boss Iffy Onuora feels Gillingham's team spirit can help them beat any side in League One.
The Gills ended Leeds 100% winning start to the season when the sides drew 1-1 at the weekend.

Onuora told BBC Radio Kent: "There's not a lot of difference between the teams that are at the top and those at the bottom of the table at the moment.

"It doesn't matter who we are playing because of the togetherness we have and we're more than a match for anyone."

So this is the same Gills team that lost 3-0 to us and have lost 5 of their 8 games

Gillingham aren't that far off being a good team, despite their woeful showing against us. They have some very good players, not to mention a very god player.

That's not even worth of "manager-speak"! They only managed a DRAW against 9 men! He should be ashamed of himself for saying that. Quite clearly they are nowhere near capable of beating "any side in League one" right now.

(Still, I remember our win against Swansea with 8 men but I don't think anyone was touting us as all conquering on the strength if that!)

They're a shambles but I tend to agree with YB but reckon they havea team capable of upper midtable at best. Get them organised and the players are good enough to do ok.

I seem to remember half of this forum wanted 2 or 3 of our ex-players (now there) back last month!

Its wrong to judge a team on just one performance, but I see them struggling this year. Team spirit IS massively important though in all leagues.

Just look at the games where teams win when a new manager comes in, or the underdog mentality, or Chelsea under Mourinho where they always ground out results due to their desire to play for each other.

Even dare I say it us in recent years? The moment Gutts kicked off and Freddy got cocky, out they went, such is Brush / Tilson's high opinion of team morale & spirit.

Gutts wanted out in the summer, it took us 3 months or so to kick him out.

Benno - yes, should never have let him go.
Roycie - not with the 2 keepers we already have
Sodje - if he was 10 years younger maybe!

Bet poor old Duncan Jupp is crying into his pillow as we speak too...

The forgotten man of football!

Also, I loved Bentley, but Macca and Bailey are far better long term investments in my mind...

True & true, sorry Juppy (although I personally blame whichever one of those pesky mods who superinposed Tilly's face onto Juppy's body (see other thread).
