England in the Summer (Windies and the Saffers)

Bluesmanager

I'm a Barbie Girl
Day 2 just under way in the first test against the Windies, Broad polishing off the Windies for 243 off 89.5. 89 overs and 4 balls were yesterday. Oh, yes, and Broad is on 7-72, on a hattrick for his first ball of the second innnings and on for a 10 wicket haul.

England currently 3-0.

Retires or is retired?

The announcement was made by the ECB not the player.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Capey won't be too happy about it.

Seems that it was his decision. Or at least it was his decision to retire from the 50 over stuff, and the central contract prohibits a players being unavailable for one form of limited overs but not the other, so basically the ECB were saying if you dont want to play 50 overs stuff, you cant play 20/20. Shame given the World cup 20/20 is later this year and he could win it for us single handedly. Hopefully he returns in time for the 2015 world cup.

He has no real reason to. He will be a big draw in the IPL to make money and I imagine those stupidly long tours months on end get a bit old. Now he will have the best of both worlds. Few games for Surrey here and there, test matches for England, a while in the IPL and a lot more time at home.

KP wanted to stay on for t20 apparently but his contract states that he is to be available for all forms of limited over cricket or none of them. Bit of a bugger.

England are 2-0 up, btw. Relatively easy wins, though Strauss seems to have 1 good innings or no good innings a match.

Gayle's pinch hitting is hampered by Lendl Simmons pinch blocking, he's got 12 from 47 balls. Gayle is out and WIndies are 76/2 in the 20th over.
