Ahead of getting a slating on here, I don't have too much problem with us going for Clarke. When he first arrived he was great.
Toward the end of his stay, perhaps when his agent was touting him around to all and sundry, he lost interest. In my view, he was badly informed / advised by his agent about a big money move and became disillusioned with Southend. Now he knows that all he's likely to get, perhaps he'll deliver.
Afterall, he came up with the goods when he first arrived and appeared to want to stay.
Give him a chance.

It as though someone came on to the board, wrote down the biggest fear of the fans on here, and then printed it in the local rag as a "possibility".
Fantastic. Must be slim pickings in the market if we are in for him. If it didnt work first time round with him I see it hard to understand how this time will be any better.
However, if we do go in for him and he proves his worth, sorts his attitude and looses 5 stone then I will give him my full support.

He was quality for us, and really helped kick start out season. His attitude was awful at the end, but if he improves on that, even just for one season, then it would be a good signing. The question would be whether Tilson has it in him to coax a player like that into performing to his full potential. Goater was always a model pro and someone who gave 100% so I cant imagine he needed much management, but so far Tilson has not been able to get the best from undoubtedly talented players like Rickets, Bramble, Corbett......

I think if he had gone back to Wednesday and been stuck back in the reserves they may be a chance he would want to come back... but he went back and scored the goals to help they stay up! Having done that he will be too big for his boots to drop back the League 1 even if we did want him!!!
If we could guarentee he wants to be here and was willing to put the effort in I think we all agree he would be a great signing... but we can't guarentee either of those things... in fact you can practically guarentee neither is true!!!
The general consensus is we don't want him... and he won't want to drop down to League 1 anyway so its a non-starter in my book.

Leon's attitude stank, but people can change and if he's realised that he's not going to survive in the game if he continued the way he was then he could be a good player as we know he has the talent.
So while i'd prefer we didn't go in for him, if he did come here I'd keep an open mind. Maybe he feels he has something to prove here, which could be a good thing for us.

I actually think that he could be a good signing.
We know he can score goals and has far more class than most League 1 strikers. And with some competition upfront with Barnard, Walker and Revell it might the catalyst he needs to put some effort in. Let’s face it when he was here last time his competition came from Matt Harrold and he got too big for his boots.
If Tilly bought him here and thought Leon actually wanted to play here, we would have 5 strikers that most League 1 clubs would be envious of.

Wouldnt say no but would prefer Byfield. We certianly need at least 2 strikers cuz if barney gets an injury we are up **** creek with our current crop.

Exactly, hardly showing any ambition if he is prepared to drop a division at his age. I would have thought that firstly he would be touting himself amongst the bottom half of the championship clubs and even Doncaster which is just up the road from where he's based.

When i saw the title i thought it meant Billy Clarke. TBH i would prefer Billy over Leon all day long. I was massively impressed when he came on for ip**** at the hall. Quick skillfull and an eye for goal. I think he is only 21ish so i was well surprised he got released.
Would still love to see byfield come aswell if we had him or Leon i would suggest a bog standard wage with a really decent goal scoring bonus to get the best out of them.
