Eastwood off to charlton ????

NOTW printed that charlton will make a bid to sign Eastwood in the Summer and Tilly is already out looking for a replacement , with Stevenage striker Steve Morisson our target.

I for one can see some truth in this one as Charlton were one of the clubs that i think would suit Freddy , with them paying better wages , pretty close to his home , first team football and the lure of a bigger club and potential of playing in the prem.

... West Ham United ... Tottenham Hotspur ... Derby County ... Sunderland ... Portsmouth ... Charlton Athletic ... Norwich City ...

Dont see a lot of point speculating about it yet.Chances are we might be in the same division so I for one dont think this would be a good move.

just feel Charlton ticks a lot of the boxes though

Norwich are no better than us really , Sunderland is too far away, tottenham ,west ham or portsmouth can't guarentee him first team football and Don't thing Derby were offering the right amount of money for Ron Martin to let him go.

Hoopers a lot younger then Eastwood was when we signed him. I think Hoops has got potential and he's certainly showing it now he's getting a chance at Orient.

He was a one off gem.

Hooper hasn't set the world alight has he?

Had another very good game for orient yesterday by all accounts, but i think your right, your not always gonna find a gem every time you buy from non league , but the fella seems to bag a few goals so who knows.

Hooper isn't that much younger than Fred. He may have potential, but that potential is not the Championship. In fact, I bet he signs for Orient in the summer.

Without a decent, experienced striker we will be in the mire again next season (should be survive!).... a splashing of some of Freddy's cash would be in order .

However, he might still be with us next season, especially if Charlton are relegated.

Very much doubt he'll be here next season regardless - he's only got a year left on his deal at the end of this season and assuming he doesn't extend his contract (which I very much doubt) the club will be actively seeking to sell in the summer to maximise the transfer fee.

I dont think hooper will go, there is far to much potential. give him a couple of years and he will be just as good as eastwood or maybe better. hes showing he can do the job in league 1.

No not really only five years

Do people forget Hooper has only just turned 18, FFS people how can you write him off already. In my eyes he is definitely one for the future.

Fair point, thought they were closer in age.

So we keep Hooper, deffo, I still would like to see a more experienced player in next season rather than a player from the conference.

just readin four four two and its got Freddy as the 11th best player in the football league:), says hes 26 though, such blatent ignorance not even bothering to look it up, i also remember the Spurs programme twice saying that Sodje was 24 :s FFS GET IT RIGHT!!!!

Do you actually know any gossip on that front or is that just your opinion?

Unless we get a very good offer in, I just don't see Ron Martin selling Eastwood this summer, regardless of whether he wants to sign a new contract or not.

Tilly was at Dagenham Vs Stevenage in the week.

I can't imagine we'd get him as a direct replacement for Freddy though. IF we're in League 1, I for one wouldn't mind us swooping for Morison but I think it'd be too much of a jump for him in the Championship.

It's this continuous writing off as players that gets us intro trouble.

Paynter was written off after his first touch of a ball... Wasn't given the time to settle into his new environment and was boo'd whenever he had possession. His confidence took a beating, and now we're £250k down with 1 very gifted forward banging in goals out on loan at another club, when he could be doing it with us. Paynter is younger than Eastwood too, Hes only just turned 22.

We're lucky the same hasn't happened with Clarke...

Totally agree he is one for thr future....Sadly not sure which clubs future though some how dont think it will be ours.

So was I. Morison looks a promising player but showed none of the star qualities Freddy sometimes displayed at Grays. Cole did not impress, by the way.
