Earthquake

The General

The Mouse (*)
Or whatever, up North.

Well, it seems like it happened everywhere, bar down here in the far south!! I feel rather left out now!

:flamer:

My bed was shaking for about an hour.....:p

Did you guys not get it? I got it in Ipswich! My house shook like a bitch for 10 seconds plus. The table with my brand new TV was swaying - thought I was gonna lose that. Even worse up north - my best mate, who is at uni in Coventry, told me that books fell off his shelves and his kitchen cupboards were opening leading to plates and what not falling out.

All jokes aside, I've never felt something like that and it was kind of scary. I thought it was just me at first.....

Never felt it in London (Canary Wharf to be precise) - mind you, I walk about in a daze most of the time so it may well have shaken the building and I just never noticed it.

Felt it here in MK. Woke me up, freaked me out a bit as I had no idea what was going on! Didn't get back to sleep until 2am.....

I thought it was a common occurrence ...most girls I know always say the earth just moved for them ...;)

Mrs FS felt something during the night, dismissed it as being the bed vibrating due to me farting in my sleep ...... Delightful woman !

Felt it in Prittlewell. Assumed at the time that it was someone running about in the flat upstairs. Not sure i would have felt it if i'd been asleep though at the time.

Two things occurred to me about this Earthquake (seismically minor in the scheme of things).

One was whilst watching TV this morning they interviewed a thick northerner from Grimsby who said "I was watching TV at 1am when there was this sudden shaking. I ran outside and saw other people in the street. It was at that point we all realised it was an earthquake. At first I thought it was terrorism." Yeah, like Grimsby is Al Qaeda's #1 target isn't it, you thick northern monkey. Osama is in his cave in the Tora Bora mountains and says to his loyal lieutenants "bomb the Findus Factory. Deny the infidel his fish fingers. They will soon realise the error of their infidel ways."

The second is how $hite must the German military forces have been between 1939 and 1945 that they couldn't invade and conquer this country which is brought to a standstill by an inch of snow or a few broken chimney pots in Lincolnshire?

Yep, felt the tremor in Cricklewood. Strangely enough I'm convinced there was another, smaller one during the day a couple of days ago as well as I felt a similar vibration from the floor then, though that was only for about three or four seconds.

Felt it in Cheltenham, house rocked for a bit but i thought it was my housemate moving stuff in his room, didn't realise it was an earthquake until a few people asked me over msn about it.

Was strong in Grantham too - not too far from the epicentre. Never experienced anything like that before - it was surreal, like a film!

Felt like a 747 was landing in the street - though my immediate thought was something had blown up in the house - gas main or something.

Freaky stuff!
