Home Secretary John Reid was heckled by two very aggressive people with extremist Islamic views, the supporters of whom brandished posters printed quite clearly with the words "JOHN REID GO TO HELL!" Yet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair claims that no crime had been committed and that “we are in a country that celebrates free speech."
2. An evangelical Christian hands out leaflets at a gay pride march in Cardiff on which had been printed in small type quotes from the 1611 King James Bible which denounce homsexuality. The campaigner was not aggressive yet he was arrested, questioned at a police station for four hours and charged with using 'threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour'; no freedom of speech down in South Wales.
Something is desperately, desperately wrong here. Can the authorities really not understand that such obvious discrimination only serves to drive more and more frustrated people into the arms of the evil British National Party?! The UK is striding relentlessly towards major civil unrest unless the government quickly realises that it needs to protect and serve ALL its citizens, not the minority.
