Donor Show is a hoax

Hmmm. A change of plan me thinks after the world wide flack they got.

That is ONE SICK JOKE...and I don't care if its a hoax. There are better ways than to do it like that.

They have gone wayyyyyyyy down in my estimation!

Not at all. This was planned right from the start. The woman supposedly giving away a kidney was a perfectly fit and healthy actress. The three potential recipients are all genuinely waiting for donors and were aware of the set-up from the start.

Despite what people say, I don't believe that Endemol would really stoop that low. I know they are responsible for a lot of tat on our screens, but when the presenter did the reveal at the end of the show, he did say that such a proposition would be going too far for TV.

Like many of us, when I read and heard about this programme over the last few days I thought it was shocking and disgusting, but although you may well justifiably criticise the tactics of the programme-makers, what cannot be denied is the profile of people such as the three featured who are awaiting transplantation has been raised hugely. During the course of the programme, before it was revealed as a hoax, apparently several thousand people phoned in offering to donate organs.

If people's lives are now going to be saved as a result, then is the programme really deserving of such harsh criticism? It's the age-old question - do the ends justify the means?
