Don't go back there

Flashing Blade

Youth Team
Missed Saturday's entertainment to visit Trent Bridge for the 20/20.
Equally as disappointing and, as I went by coach, had to hang around 'til after the Final to come home (although that was a cracking game). I decided to break up the monotony of the day by popping next door to Meadow Lane to watch Notts County v Wycombe Wanderers.
Tommy Mooney v Lawrie Dudfield! (and could have been Jason Lee as well, but he wasn't fit)
Absolutely dreadful game of football!
Couldn't believe how bad the standard was, to be honest, or that I was watching that as my staple diet just two years ago.
It's worth remembering amid all this doom and gloom how far our side has come in those two years and what a leap in class this is.
Notts won 1-0, Wycombe were down to ten men after 37 minutes but dominated most of the match without creating a chance!
Mooney's hold up play was first class. Dudfield gave 100% but had little to show for it (no change there then). I didn't see a single player that I think Southend would be interested in.
Sat in the Wycombe end and was delighted to join in their `We hate Col Ewe' songs

How far we have come - and how little some people appreciate it. Good points well made, FB.

And before I am accused of Rose-Tinted vision, I accept that there are things that need addressing and that could be changed - it's just the doom and gloom being spread to go along with it that disappoints me.

Agreed, I was on holiday last week and while you all feasted on SUFC vs. Palace, I sufficed with Torquay versus Rochdale...

It was very much as Flashing Blade described above, all hard work with no end product and much over-use of the long ball. Torquay may near the top of the division but there was not one player that would even begin to cope at this level. Torquay won 1-0 with a last minute goal, heartbreaking for the 100 or so Rochdale fans after their striker missed an empty goal from 2 yards....

Made me appreciate the QPR game even more!

I know he is ancient, but I would love to have Mooney partnering Freddy.
