Dom Joly's Happy Hour

Just been catching up with my Sky+ box and at the end of the first in the series of Dom Joly's Happy Hour on Sky One there was an amazing cover version of the Joy Division classic "Love Will Tear Us Apart". Anybody got a clue who it was by? One for the trusty iPod I feel! Ta!

Nope. Parantly it was first released by JD back in 1980, so way before my time, i'm afraid.

The Riddle now that does bring back some great memories of old school days and summers that lasted forever, well at least a week.

Sorry, Matt, but I cringe painfully at your attempt to relate New Order's classic 'Blue Monday' to Nik Kershaw!

No need to cringe, unless it's at my tastes! I'm not particularly trying to link them, other than by mentioning that both songs were released in the 80s... and that's just a fact. They were!

As for one's taste, as a general rule, one should never have to apologise for one's tastes. After all, if you did, then we'd all have to apologise for watching Southend between 1997 and 2003...

Apparently we used to have a king called Henry VIII but that was way before my time. Do any older posters know if he actually existed?

I might be wrong, but I believe that the lead singer of Heaven 17 released a very slow, morbid cover of it a couple of years ago.

Some people said it was a shameless, clammy and inspid version of a timeless classic, others said that it was ground-breaking, spine-tingling genius.

I thought it were alright.

EDIT - In future, I'm going to read the whole thread before posting.
