THE SEVENTIES NORTH BANK

Life President⭐⭐🦐
What's happened to Morris? He looked a very good keeper earlier on in the season. Now he looks well dodgy as the costly mistakes are coming thick and fast.

Not just blaming him by the way, as a lot of the other players are having a mare as well.

I could be wrong but hasn't Morris generally been a reserve keeper during his professional career so far? He was number two at Orient for long periods.

It makes me wonder if he's mentally and/or physically cut out to last a whole season as first choice because I remember him having a few shaky moments in the second half of last season as well despite being pretty solid initially. Playing in goal requires huge concentration levels and maybe they take their toll over the course of a full season.

Obviously he had a spell out through injury a while back, but some of his errors in recent weeks have been worryingly elementary. I'd be intrigued to hear Jonny_Stokes' thoughts on this.

I'll tell you what happened, the then god like Sturrock undermined him by bringing in an average keeper. Morris in his head thought that he was worthless after months of being a solid keeper and has failed to get that form back after a couple off put downs from his manager. Well done Paul as now it's you're turn to be called useless as you seem to be pretty clueless when it comes to managing to play football rather than ugly hoofball!

Daniels left the club 2 months ago. If Morris's head is still not right, then Sturrock needs to replace him straight away.

Pro footballers need to be mentally strong and if you get injured and the person who comes in to replace you does a decent job, then, as soon as your chance comes again, you need to show what you are made of.

Doesn't matter what position you play on the pitch!

Are you suggesting Daniels is average? He is excellent at this level. Morris is just average with no height like a certain other God like keeper.

He'll be missing TB..same reason for anything that does not go well from now on!!

Seriously, I think the team is just low on confidence and probably frustrated with the style of play. That atmosphere can filter throughout the squad. If you are the keeper of a hoofball team, the ball returns to your end far sooner than if there was an element of build-up from the fullbacks onwards!

It's likely a confidence thing, the problem is when your a goalkeeper you can't afford to do this. If your a striker in front of goal with no confidence then you probably won't score, but you can hope the rest of the team will score instead. If the goalkeeper makes a mistake, it is glaringly obvious, and will knock your confidence further.

Two points.....

  • We HAD to get a keeper in because Morris was injured.
  • Daniels is far far superior to Morris.

As stated above Daniels was brought in when Morris was injured. How on earth can you construe that to be a poor decision. Would you rather we had played Bentley, or one of the Bluebelles in goal ?

I am pretty sure from posts Wiggy has made before on this subject that what he actually meant was ---- AFTER Morris had regained fitness Daniels was still being chosen before him (Wiggy apologies if this is wrong)

When we resigned Daniels (before the cup tie at PNE) it was a stipulation he played every game if fit

So what happens if Morris gets injured?.........

Bentley or Daniels?
