Do you rate Hayes? RE: Increased bid

Only seen him twice, on both occasions looked the tastier of Barnsley's attacking threats, not really seen enough of him.

What do people think, clearly a player who Tilly rates and if speculation is anything to go buy wants a move down south..........

We are talking a fee of over £100k, as the last bid that was places was this amount and has since been increased.

From what i've seen of him , he looks a tidy player, good touch , good work rate and also gets the ball in the box early, which is what i believe we are missing at the moment.

also chips in with a few goals, so definatly a player that we should be keen on but not a player to break the bank on.

I have absolutely no idea what all the fuss is with this guy.

I have seen him play on numerous occasions and have yet to see him stand out in any way, shape or form.

It seems we have a whole host of strikers who are not out and out goal getters, so why on earth are we trying to sign another one?

I notice Swansea managed to snap up Pavel Abbott yesterday to replace Rory Fallon..... Amazed we didnt look at him or make any attempt to sign him, now that is a player I rate very highly.

Yeah but you don't know we didn't try though do you?
Just because T, B & R have been quite vocal this window in saying we've bid for Hayes, McDonald & (what we presume to be) O'Donovan, there's nothing to say we didn't actually enquire about Abbott or Fallon.

As I said elsewhere yesterday, great bit of business for Swansea, Fallon out & Abbott in with £150k profit!

Of course, Fallon does have a proven scoring record at League One level though whereas Abbott only has that season in League Two.

Personally, I'd have taken the Abbott that played at Roots Hall in league Two or the Fallon that played us at the Liberty Stadium in League One!

Hayes' scoring record when he has played up front for any of his clubs has been almost as good as our own hotshot Mr eastwood nearly one in every two and bit games.

As most already know he has been employed out on the wing this season and has still scored 5 ( i think goals) if the paper repoerts of barnsley wanting 200,000 are correct is that really to much to expect to pay for a youngish striker who certainly does know where the goal net is!

So after three offers how much have we offered then? Sounds a bit odd to me.

I know this has been touched on before.. but im starting to really feel that Southends strategy of always trying to grab the bargain buy and bidding way below selling clubs valuations is neither good for us the fans; as our expectations rise to silly proportions everytime someones name is mentioned.
Also its not good for the selling club as we always to annoy them with our silly bids which then leads to them digging their heels in and refuting all our bids.
its all very frustrating and yes your right i do rate Hayes and feel he could do a good job for us with or without freddy:confused: :confused:

From what I've heard seems a decent player, would definately be up for seeing him at the Roots. I dont ever remember seeing him play, although probably have but just didn't notice him.
