after a relatively quiet start to the season - assuming he's passed fit - anyone else think he'll get off the mark on Friday ?

Hasn't played a game this season fully fit, always having a late fitness test or missing training.
Only when playing whilst 100% fit can we expect the best from him.
Also the new tactics we are playing this season doesn't produce many chances for him, which doesn't help.

The more pressing question is:

'Do you fancy Lee Barnard?'

I haven't made up my mind yet.

www.sportingindex.com have his total goal minutes at 18-21 which to me is a good price and definitely worth a pound a point buy.

For those unfamiliar with spread betting, rather than the bookie setting a price and you either decide to bet or not bet, Spread Betting bookies set a market and you can use your skill and judgement to decided whether to go higher or lower.

Example, if you dont think Barneys total goal minutes will add up to 21, then go lower. If you bet £1 per point and he doesnt score you win 18 quid.

If you go higher and he scores in the 30th, 40th and 50th minute, his total goal minutes are 120 minutes which at a pound a point gives you nice profit of 99 quid. This to me is a far more enjoyable (and Risky) way of gambling.

However, if you are a youngster, please dont get involved, the losses can be large. If you havent tried it, have a lok at thier site, they have bets for nearly everything.

Now some of these bookie fellows can tell us why fixed odds betting represents good value.

Barnard to score first and Southend to win 2-1 is 45/1 on Bet365.

I threw £2 on it. Not bad odds. Although in reality, when he's scored for us, it's generally a match-winner rather than an opener.
