Do you do any voluntary work?

I met some representatives from Orange RockCorps when I was working at Crisis Open Christmas. They told me more about the programme which I was only vaguely aware of. I just thought I'd share this with you...

If you have completed at least 4 hours of voluntary work in the last 6 months, and be in the loosest sense a 'young person' (can't find age restrictions!).

‘The Collective' is an opportunity for young people to tell us about any 4 hours or more volunteering they have taken part in within the last 6 months in their community. We’ve got some great prizes them to win, and if they enter by the end of January – they will automatically win a subscription for a limited amount of time to either Kerrang! Q, Heat, or FHM magazine.

All they need to do is:

Seems like quite a good deal!

I did mine a few weeks ago, but only got put up today...<link>

Being a school governor is entirely voluntary and non remunerated in any way. It takes up more of my time than I care to think about and only looks like getting worse in the next school year.

I took this up after leaving (mixed) Leos after 14 years, and being denied membership of the then all male parent Lions Club although directives said they could by then accept lady members. It caused massive ructions I can tell you! Some things never change!

I've been doing voluntary work for 8 months, but I'm far too old for magazine subscriptions, so I content myself by continual stealing.

I help out once a week at a place that grows veg for the local poor folks,we also take people there to help them on the road to recovery,i.e druggies drunks or sometime schoolkids to teach them about plants.
No mags for me please.

It disappointed me with an on train argument between two passengers who were unknown to each other that one thought she could win an argument with the line of "you're probably just on your 20k a year earning that for the rest of your life"
completely annoyed me that money had no baring on the argument and it showed the immaturity, and stupidity of some people. The reason i post here is because I think those that give back to the community are exceptional people

Tell me about it lol!

Authority governor seem's a little worse & chairing local groups as well is at times extremely 'difficult'.

In Essex salary is vitally important because it determines how much you can borrow in order to chase your aspired to lifestyle.

I just got a phone calling, telling me that through this scheme I have won a Sony Ericsson W995 Walkman phone with speakers, loads of movie downloads and free digital photo frame! Result!

I have formed a South Benfleet chapter of the Guardian Angels. I aim to reduce street violence by increasing pub violence. I have had quite a good response to my strategy of flicking peanuts at blokes in West Ham shirts and pool players down the Hoy and Helmet.

Watch out for Castle Point Pub Watch, get banned from the Hoy you will have to drink in Wickford Rayleigh or Southend.
