Simple, after Laurent's injury, do we want/need another striker to come in.

There's mixed feelings/reports over Jimmy Walker and Barny. Scannell and Freedman are too injury prone and that only leaves us with Revs and Calver (who looks decent, but this moment in time won't get a sniff at this level)

So do you think Tilly should be/is looking for a replacement beit permenant or on loan just to cover?

No, I don't think so, the fact Walker seems fit more than adequately covers the gap and Laurent hadn't been playing up front anyway. What we need now is a winger - simple.

No - I think we have enough cover there as it is and what sort of message will that send out to Walker as we've talked about is very much a confidence player ?

I'd stick with Walker and Barney up front for Tuesday night, hopefully Jimmy will grab a goal and I'm sure after that his confidence will shoot.

Yes. Revs and Walker dont score goals, Dougie is past it and Laurent is out for a while. With our seemingly good relationship with Roy Keane, would ask him about taking Billy Clarke on loan.

IMO we more urgently need a left winger and a CB and LB long term (possibly Heath and White). In terms of numbers we have enough strikers, but they are injury prone. This summer, with the lack of money we have, I think we should concentrate on those other areas, but if we can get a fast striker, similar to Robinson, then I think it would be a useful addition. Walker hasn't entirely convinced me yet, though he did look promising yesterday, and then we could loan out Calver for a year to give him some first team experience.

We've got more than enough strikers and our strikers are more than good enough.

If we're going to spend more money on increasing the already too-large wage bill then it needs to be on the areas where we're crying out for investment (defenders who can defend and wingers).

As well as we played yesterday, how many chances did our forwards get? Not many. We lack creativity, and unless we're able to bring in another Freddy Eastwood who can create his own chances then bringing in a seventh centre-forward seems to me to be failing to address the actual issue.

The problem is the strikers didn't score enough goals last season. I feel we need to try and bring somebody in who can help bring us more goals. Unless of course this years bunch can stay injury free and score more.

The problem is that the midfielders don't create enough chances for the strikers.

We score enough goals as a team rather than just one individual scoring them all now.

Our problem is the defence, We needs a tight defensive unit. If you keep a clean sheet, you only need one goal to win a game.

Defenders are the priority, not more strikers.

If we could get a 20+ goals a season man in, then i don't see anything wrong that. Also i don't see anything wrong in bringing in a WF on loan and seeing what he can do

We need more quality not more cover.

I dont personally think Revell,Walker, Laurent or Freedman are that impressive. If Barney get injured whihc is more like a when then i worry where goals are coming from.

My thoughts exactly, except that i think Laurent IS impressive, and Revs does a decent job

The strikers we have (particularly Barney and Dougie) are goaslcorers and are more than capable of 15-20 if they receive good service. Look at Barney's record in 2007/8 when he had the likes of Gower creating for him, sadly we had little or no creativity last season. That's the key - service. Freedman's a very clever player and is creative, I'm also looking forward to Sawyer's return as (bar Moussa) he's the only midfielder we have who can create chances for others. If our strikers get the service they'll score goals, I have no doubt about that and therefore I don't believe we need another striker unless he's definitely better than what we already have.

Every Club in the country wants this mythical "20 goal a season" striker. They aren't easy to come by and at the end of this season I doubt that more than two or three players at this level will get that many goals.

The strikers we've got are each capable of getting 10-15 if given the games. Our trouble is that we've got too many strikers so straight away they're sharing matches between them, they're getting dropped every time they go a couple of games without scoring which is bad for confidence and stops anyone forming a natural partnership. I think I'm right in saying that Barnard & Freedman haven't played up front together since the Orient home game when Dougie got injured straight after scoring. Since then we've tried half a dozen variations on strike partnerships rather than letting two of them just get on with it.

I'd say the bigger problem in getting two strikers to form a prolific strike partnership is the unbelieveable amount of injuries we accumulate.

Last season Barny and Freedman struck up a decent partnership, but that was cut short after Freedman was injured.

Revs and Barny then went on to start playing well together until Barny was injured.

Revs and laurent struck up a fearsome partnership that terrorised the likes of Leeds.

This was cut short by Laurent's ankle break.

IIRC Revs and Freedman then started most games until Revs broke his leg

Notice the pattern. We just seem to be incredibly unlucky with injuries

I still want to see us sign a striker yep. We still had the same age old problem yesterday where we didn't have anybody looking to make runs in behind and also when we did get to the byline, there was nobody there to attack the ball.
