Hi All,

I have spent many man hours surfing the internet looking for a digital camera with a remote but I really have no idea what Im looking for.

I need a camera that has a remote control so I can take "self" photos when out fishing alone. I dont wish to spend to much on one as it will only be used for when Im fishing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

They're called "selfies" these days, apparently.

Most cameras come with self timers on it so instead of doing it remotely you can set a 10/30 second timer to go off. Or is that not long enough?

Not used one but they can be used remotely, the remote is extra though, about £25.

Personally I just use a timer on my camera.

Thanks for your replies gents, A self timer is not an option as wouldnt be able to get set in time plus the fish could flip and play up etc.

Its very hard as I have been spening a lot of time on the bank alone so I need a camera with a remote

I did think that it would be the taking a picture with the catch that might cause an issue. Take a look at the Pentax, they have remote capability. Get a gorilla tripod and you will be able to sit it on fences or branches if need be.

I've got a basic nikon slr and was able to buy a remote for about a fiver on amazon. Think they are fairly common for cameras.

The camera creates its own private wifi - so you can do it any place, any time. Moved photos from my camera to my phone and onto facebook while sitting on the train on the way back from the Olympic Park the other week

Now that is cool. Is it wifi or bluetooth? Either way, that's pretty cool.

Wifi. Not sure what the range is, as i've never really used it with the two devices that far away, but the connection doesn't drop out unless you are inactive for too long.

The remote viewfinder is very decent if you hook it up with your iPad

I purchased a Samsung camera recently. You can download an app to your iphone, which lets you control the camera from your phone (take pictures/view the lens image etc). That might be handy for you, as saves paying extra for a remote?

My old man said about this ages ago but the only problem is I have a Samsung S4 which is rather large plus couldnt hold this under the fish.

Looking for something more like this nikon_camera_remote_control_remote_control_for_D40X_wireless_remote_for_Nikon.jpg
