Day Off

TTS

Manager
Its 1045, I'm on the coach home, tired and emotionally drained. Knowing that I'll be home around 230 tomorrow, to be up again at 530 for work.

In light of that fantastic performance tonight can I beg and plead for a day off for all negative posts.

Forget Martin, forget Tilly forget the problems of recent times and applaud the endevour every single man in blue put in tonight.

People have said recently that this is no longer a club that they feel belongs to them, that there are too many new faces, but can I just say that tonight, I saw enough passion to win over the most ardant doubters !

The result was not deserved. But the players showed tonight that they do care ! In life all we can ask for is people to put in 100% effort, regardless of ability, tonight both was evident.

I understand peoples concerns, but for one day, let's all be as one, and saviour in this wonderful Club, starting with tonight.

As I said, tired and emotion, but also so so proud !

Up the blues !!

Well said that man. Am on the way back as well absolutely gutted - we deserved more than that tonight! And also would like to applaud the first rendition of 'paul sturrock's barmy army' tonight. Fans put in as much effort tonight as those on the pitch.

on tonights performance could easton iron mahers underpants? in all seriousness sounds like the lads put in one hell of a shift and you bods who went to support too, can we turn this cup hope into league points? how did hall play when he came on?

Cheers guys, just what we need - and great to hear it was a much improved performance.

I'm really pleased also that the guys are all staying up there, rather than travelling back feeling down tonight and then 4-5 hours back up the motorway Friday.

This will give them much better chance to train and definitely to bond.

Well played all who went - certainly on the back of Saturdays performance.

As well as Hall, how were Moshni and Gilbert on their competitive debuts?

A few thoughts from tonight:

Bilel could be a great find but at the moment is still prone to the odd moment! But he massively makes up for it with his effort and actual ability.

Gilbert I thought was solid and dependable all night long.

Sturrock continues to impress me - particularly when he drops deep to pick the ball up and look to play it around. Also had one great effort that was tipped on to the bar.

Hall looked ok - tried to beat his man and looked lively. As with most of our wingers needs to work on his crossing.

Well said.

I hope that people can appreciate that the players certainly gave their all for the shirt tonight. SSN said that the fans gave a standing ovation and that Wolves were "relieved".

Still on the Intercity on the way back from the game. Is it me or does the Midlands look better at night?
Anyway, was worth the journey to see a much improved performance than the one against Port Vale. A few of picks of the night for me:
Mohsni- I Forget who said it first, but he could have the makings of a new fan favourite. Does he like to challenge! He was here, there and everywhere tonight. One or two hick-ups but great potential.
Grant had a good game- I am wondering why a Championship club haven't gone for a gamble on him. Put himself in the shop window tonight though.
But all showed a great deal of passion and desire. It just wasn't to be.

I hope they still have enough left to give Bradford a game on Friday!

Absolutly brilliant performance. Will give my ratings tomorrow after some sleep. Will echo what jamesmut2000 said about the rendition of 'Paul Sturrocks Barmy Army'.
Fantastic Stuff

So when we lose to Bradford on Friday night, is it ok for someone to come on here and request "no positive posts please"?

Thought a forum was a place for freedom of speech.

I haven't got anything negative as such to say anyway, but I dont like double standards and trying to gag those who have concerns about the club just because we played well (but still lost) in the "who cares cup".

It would be more reasonable to come out with such a post if we were on a 3-5 LEAGUE winning run or something.

What the team really needs to do is figure out a way to transfer cup performances into league form, otherwise its all for nowt!

Fitness & Getting to know each other

Gutted - last minute extra time winner for Wolves reserves.

We basically played Wolves reserves last night, they only had one player start tonights match who was in the starting line up for their last premier match, he was a defender who was subbed after 53 mins against Everton.
So it is difficult to assess last nights performance, yes they got some more minutes on the pitch to improve their fitness and get to know each other bettter, to me that is the biggest plus from the game.

The more important match is Friday at Bradford, that is when we will see the progress the team is making.

But we haven't been overdosed with positive posts have we?

And I think that in fairness, when much of this weeks negativity has been as a direct result of the passionless debacle last weekend against Port Vale, the reasons for that negativity (poor team selection, gutless display, lack of effort, flippant post match comments) just weren't evident last night so perhaps the players and manager have earned a respite.

I don't think anyone's trying to act as a censor... just trying to feel a bit better about the club for a day without the same old same old being slung about.

A narrow defeat has to rank as probably the third best day of 2010, which speaks volumes for the amount of **** that we've all been through. I applaud the sentiment from TTS but doubt it'll work. Some people just love to have a moan, I guess.

Thankyou fbm, exactly as you said. I am not trying to censor, just, for one day, would like to read positive news on this forum, its been a long time since that happened. Anyone that was not there last night, will not appreciate just how good the performance was.

All eyes are on whether we will see that performance manifest itself where it matters......The league

Starting on Friday vs Bradford.....

I truly hope so, otherwise I will be extremely frustrated. Bit like the performance we showed against City and yet we havent seen this manifest itself into league performances.

What last night does give is hope !

UTB's

which begs the rather obvious question, what were the first and second best days? The day we beat the winding up order and the day we got rid of mccormack?

Fourth best day, surely? We won two matches under Tilly last season in 2010 and then we beat Bristol City under Sturrock in the previous round.

Alright, make that 5th.
