Yet to really have a run in the position that saw him score a lot in the SPL (all be it mainly from the penalty spot).

seems solid without being particularly creative or deadly but has bagged a couple in the reserves and with harrold and macdonald struggling to find the back of the net could he get a chance in his favoured position?

HockleyShrimper and myself were discussing him after the game Saturday - as we both remember him coming to the Hall when he was at Carlisle and seemed to be involved in everything and was a right pain in the ****.

Since he has been with us i just get the impression he doesnt care. He seems to run at 3/4 pace and i always think he is going to get himself sent off for something stupid. I dont know whether its because he considers himself out of position but overall im pretty disappointed with what ive seen so far for such a large investment in a player (by our standards).

He definately has the ability - just missing the application.

He can't shoot for toffee. I still remember some of his "efforts" against Leeds last season, so I wouldn't be confident if he were to play upfront!
Still, he's naturally left-footed I believe so I'd like to see him given a chance on the wing, as both our wingers have been out-of-sorts recently.

Am I now?
Despite not liking the guy & thinking every pence we spent on him was a waste of money, I have been constructive in my criticism of him whenever I've seen him play (especially in my match reports for Preston & Oldham).

OK, I guess things maybe got out of hand in the summer but I put that down to the frustration of missing out on staying up & thinking that his fee/wages could have been put to better use (an extra £10k on getting Nicky Bailey through the door in January for one).

I'm one of these people who believes whilst on the pitch, we're there to support the team & if you get frustrated with somebody do it under your breath, not so any of the players can hear the abuse (a few on here could do with adopting that behaviour!!!)

However, when it was blatantly obvious the Scott McDonald deal was a dead duck, why did we persue the Foran interest? Was this an example of Tilly's naivety or did Motherwell set us up as they didn't welcome our cheeky move for their best player?

sorry mate i was only messing with that comment, you are outspoken about your disappointment with foran being signed but i know you support him and the blues and your opinions are usually objective and informed... i never really saw him play before we got him and my only frustration (like paynter) is that he really hasn't had that much of a chance, especially in his favoured position.

he definitely will be a waste of money if he doesn't get a proper chance... and like i said originally with other strikers and wingers not really firing then perhaps he is due a chance as he adds something different, direct running, strength, is decent in the air and is left footed

Well 2 goals in the reserves last night as a striker (one an unstoppable 25 yard volley) surely must put him in Tilly's thoughts!

I seem to remember him scoring a screamer at Maldon in the pre season friendlies as well. However, it's all well and good scoring spectacular goals in non-competetive games, but when he does get a place in the team he shows little or no threat. (I think he's scored twice for us - Burnley and Daggers?)

A total panic buy as we couldnt get any of the totally unrealistic targets we chased last season (Such as Scott McDonald).

I would rather we had spent £200,000 fitting golden urinals in the North Bank than spent £200,000 on Foran who seems to spend more time trying to knob Southend ladys mates than he does being a pro-footballer.

:hilarious:

I do remember wondering why we signed him last season, as he hadn't exactly pulled up any trees when he played for Carlisle...

I'm pretty certain that he played almost exclusively on the left wing at Motherwell in the last two seasons.

I'm not sure what to make of Foran yet, which is strange as he's been here a year. I liked the look of him against Dagenham in the JPT a few weeks ago, he made a lot more runs that night than I'd seen from him before and he scored a good goal that night. It's a bold move to drop a proven matchwinner even when he's playing poorly but Foran is probably due a run in Gower's position on the left.
