David Lee

Makes you wonder in a way though. Look at the amount of players we've released that have drifted far, far down into the doldrums of semi pro football. What was their attitude when they got released, (not necessarily from us)? I know it's a touch industry to crack, but if you want it bad enough, you can succeed. Michael Kiteley is an example of this.

Of course that's the key. Kightly is a good example, Freddy Eastwood is another. On the flip side, Steven Broad, David Lee and Lee Hodges are just three ex-Shrimpers whom, it seems to me, had the talent to carve out a career in league football - but who simply didn't have the desire or the right attitude.

And that's a crying shame, IMHO.

Yep, its hard to belive that not long time ago in late 90's & early 00' that these players are playing longside Maher & are more likely to play at higher level than Maher, I bet they was sneering at Maher in training ground that they have more chance of sucess than him .... look what happen now! Maher is one of keys player in Championship while these players drift away & we never heard of them!

Remember that cracking goal he scored against Brighton when we beat them 2-0 on the his debut season!!

He then scored in the return leg with a 2-0 win at Brighton with Carruthers being the 2nd scorer in both the home and away leg.
