I haven't seen him play but in the current first team I doubt if he would play it on the ground as none of the current midfield seem to be able/willing to make themselves available to collect a short ball - hence our current back four either going sideways or jump lumping it forward.

This is another reason why we need someone to sit between the defence and midfield as they would collect the ball. In the youths, they play a 4-3-3 mainly and most of the time there is always someone available from the middle 3 (usually Johnson, Keating and Gard). When that isn't possible, then they go out wide and attack that way via 2 attacking full-backs (Adeyeye and Williams) and 2 wingers who aren't afraid to run at the opposition and put in a cross or shoot (Cotton and Scott). If that isn't working, then both central defenders aren't afraid to carry the ball forward themselves into the opposition half.

Maybe that is down to the youths getting more freedom, I don't know. Those mentioned above are the other 2nd year scholars, along with Harry Norman who I believe has been given a 3rd year scholarship as he has suffered a very bad injury in pre-season. Will be interesting to see who they keep on and I wouldn't be surprised if most got at least a 3rd year scholar.

anyone got any input on how these are doing? I remember Phil Brown bigging Adeyeye up and saying he had the potential to be near the first team before long when Coker got injured
