Damian Scannell

Went to the Eastleigh v Truro City match last Saturday (3-1 to Eastleigh), Damian Scannell is now back at Eastleigh where it all started for him, he did seem to be too good for most of the players on the pitch and he set up the first goal of the game with a great cross from the left wing. It is so sad that it looks like he will end up as an "if only" player, still you never know a League Two club in need of a decent winger might pick him up!

Perhaps Truro might be interested in getting Blair Sturrock back?

Just been reading the local rag`s report on Eastleigh V Truro - Scannell not mentioned once - though the report was very Truro-centric.

BTW Truro`s next opponents are Eastbourne Borough - managed by someone called Tommy Widdrington

Never had a problem with Scannell, injury prone like so many but actually had a bit of something about him.

Rember away at Bristol Rovers where I think we were 3 down at half time and Scannell came on and tore them apart to at least give us some hope. Frustrating when you see flashes of what someone can do but then they revert back again. He was being bigged up at Daggers this season and then he was off again.

Scannell is playing very well for Eastleigh at the moment as Ive gone to watch them the last few weeks. Seems to be rediscovering his form that made Tilly sign him in the first place.

Scannell was awful for us IMHO, his record as a winger speaks volumes:

Jumping ship to Dagenham worked our well for him didn't it :winking:

True, but I can still remember one of his goals where he took it past 3 in the area with some crazy close control. Shame his control on every other occasion was awful!

He was totally useless.Another Tilly flop.

He was always a cheap gamble from non-league especially at League 1 agreed he was poor. Would never of played that many games had we not had a wage budget of -50p.

I'd consider a a flop as a player who was signed expected to perform, Betsy for example. I don't think there are many managers who haven't signed a few 'flop' wingers. Not knocking his judgement of player but Sturrocks had a couple of crackers also.

I thought he got a bit better towards the end of his time here. Never up to scratch but was a bit sad to see him go as I think at L2 level with PS guidance he could have been ok.

He is back on form at Eastleigh I've been watching them alot this season and what many forget in his 58apps most were as a late sub.

Never really given the guidance under Tilly but could of really prospered with PS
