Afternoon chaps, here's my view on yesterday proceedings. Enjoyed your stand for the acoustic value on my first visit to Roots Hall, I can see why some of you want it back!

You should be proud of your boys yesterday. Fully deserved point, if not all three.

We were not at the races at all again and you should of punished us more than you managed.

I think if you continue to play like that, you won't be looking over your shoulders at all.

what made me laugh is even when you were 1-0 down you were giving it, we are staying up..... say we are staying up, i for one hope you stay up and should of gone home with all three points, having looked at the table this morning you are proper in a relegation fight and by no means clear of the rest, lets hope you do stay up eh:smile:

I also thought we were lucky to get a point. Dagenham could have been 2-0 up before we scored and looked stronger in the second half. The funniest chant I heard was Daggers fans singing '........Southend's a sh.t hole I wanna go home.' I hate that chant as I don't like slagging off someone's town but no offence to the residents of Dagenham, the most desirable place in the UK to live it ain't! We must have something in Southend, seeing the tide of Eastenders (including Romford & Dagenham) rushing to move into the Borough.

I remember browsing a forum before after a game, it may have been after playing you back in November with a couple of fans saying how they dislike the chants of "Dagenhams a sh**hole." All part and parcel I suppose, we usually poke fun out ourselves, you cant hear it but someone often shouts how we come from Dagenham and well, you know the rest! Some of the chants yesterday were slightly odd, I got fed up with the Barnet one, but it made for a decent enough atmosphere I suppose.

It was an excellent blog, well done. If your team keep playing like that you will easily climb up the table. I hope you appreciated the standing ovation Kev Maher received. He was a great captain and servant for us and I expect he was looking forward to the game.

Thanks OldBluelady & Ozzer. Yeah I completely forgot to mention the standing ovation, he was a terrific servant to you and I've really warmed to him in the past few games. He has the ability to play it on the ground and his experience is good to have, I reckon he'll be out for a while now as our luck with injuries continues. That's two metatarsal breaks in 4 months now!
