The point is that Div 2 is not a beauty contest it is all results based. Enjoy the results, get out of this division and then look for more beauty.Too much unecessary whingeing about performance. COYB

rubbish- the thread is a match report, we all know the score. Why should people gloss over the fact we played badly just because we won. I hate it when people say 'what would you prefer , play badly and win , or play well and loose' its totally irrelevant to a MATCH REPORT.

Forget about the score
Does anyone really think we played well for 90 mins today?

Have to agree with United we stand here; 6 pages and 3 match reports/ ratings (one of them from a dagger link)
perhaps we should change the thread title to Daggers 2 Sufc 3 ....observations and comments

Dickinson: We knew we would have to battle for win

LIAM Dickinson insisted Southend United always knew they would be in for a battle at Dagenham and Redbridge yesterday.

Wouldn't say it's unnecessary. More a valid concern that the performances will stop yielding the good results at some stage soon (law of averages and all that).

W13 D2 L3 - that's not blind luck, we're at the top because we're a good side and deserve to be there.

If you read my post you'll notice that I didn't say it is blind luck, but that it could start to become good luck, or at the very least look like it, if we don't start churning out better performances.

For myself, the Pringello Index means I no longer give ratings in this thread. Don't know how many others are the same?

and I bet supporters of Championship & League one sides say exactly the same thing about getting out of their respective leagues

Indeed they most likely do!

A tough game against a side that were really prepared to come and have a go at us, and nearly got something for their endeavours. We stayed true to our gameplan, soaked up their pressure and created several chances of our own.

I think saying we played badly is taking some credit away from Daggers. They really went for it Saturday, and despite them putting in their best performance of the season (according to the Daggers fans we spoke to afterwards), we still created several chances, scored three goals and took home three points.

Dickinson was a revelation up top, a hand in all three goals and worked his socks off all afternoon. His pass out wide to Hall was excellent, and only topped by his defence splitting through ball to Kane for the winner. He showed his predatory instincts with his goal by beating the defenders to the near post to get a vital touch on the 2nd. He ran the line constantly, and had to chase long balls from Phillips and Clohessy all afternoon but didn't let his head didn't drop once.

Timlin was again everywhere, and is fast becoming the unofficial captain, even Barker himself on the end of a couple of Timlin rollickings in the second half. He supported Hall and Dicko up top, and constantly got back to help out Kalala who struggled with the pace of Daggers, and was unlucky not to score with his effort cleared off the line (and what looked supsicioulsy like the top of a their defenders arm).

Clohessly ball to put Mohsni through for Dicko's goal was excellent in it's simplicity taking out 2 defenders giving Mohsni loads of space to find Dicko at the near post.

Kane seems to be becoming a more and more advanced player, centre back to defensive midfielder and recently this year, he is often the most advanced midfielder. With his habit of becoming annoymous for small periods of the game, this might actually be a better suited role for him, and with Timlin (everywhere) and Grant (CM-DM) and Kalalalalala (DM) it's probably one we can afford him, but then what news for Sawyer? Unfortunate to be injured so soon after a grabbing his chance at Port Vale. A nice problem for PS to have.

All in all a good win against a team who gave their all, and then some. Roll on Tuesday.
