I was in the home end and I saw a lot of faces from Southend., some even in colours.
Even though it was a derby match no hatred at all directed at either fan

Looked good when we kept it on the floor, but we kept going back to hoofing it up front. The defence looked all over the place for the two Dagenham goals and just seemed to open up inviting the striker to shoot. Great save by Daniels in the closing minutes followed up by good block by Moshni. A shaky display against a poor Dagenham side, but we won, are top of the league and on a unbeaten run, long may it continue!

your spot on apart from the forget the score comment, its all about the score surely

you can get the score from the first post, you dont need to read another 40 posts . Getting out of this crap league is all anout the score, a match report thread is about how we played , although admitedly every single match thread in history on here has probably diverted from this at some point.

I am very happy getting the three points, but I found much of the performance today very frustrating compared to how good we have been in other matches. May be I am expecting too much but I genuinely believe we have an excellent squad this year capable of planning much better than we did today.

Could have been out of sight by half time, unfortunately the second half was rubbish and is going to make us forget we played well first half, still makes a change from the usual formula of us being poor first half and good second half

Yes Southend v Daggers is a good Derby it doesnt have any of the nastiness that a Derby against Colu or Orient has. I certainly usually look for Dagenham's results and hope they win. Really hope they stay up this season.
I did look for Colu's result today and they lost 5-1 at home. Southend Win colu lose it doesnt get any better.

Cant see how anyone can have any gripes at the moment. This is as good as its been for a long time, enjoy it!

Gutted I couldn't go today but moving back from Manchester is tiring business. From what I've heard it wasn't the most assured performance by all accounts today but a win is a win and it's another fine 3 points on the board. Can't wait till Tuesday, will be my first visit to the Hall for some 24 months. Up the Blues!

A really enjoyable day out with my son. The away stand was quite impressive and the pitch was one of the better ones I have seen in this league. It was nice to be thanked by the stadium announcer for the size of our support. I thought that D+R were good at closing down our players and showed some real quality at times, particularly from Montano. They stifled Hall from the get-go. Yes, their two goals came from some shoddy defending from us, but credit has to be given to the home team for the coolness with which they were taken.

Although I, along with everyone else, had my heart in my mouth with the two late chances, I felt a confidence in the team's ability to ultimately conquer that I haven't felt in the last few seasons. Our back line are very good at holding a solid line of four and our pressing game has improved immeasurably. Dickinson holds up the ball extremely well and defends from the front. I like Kalala's efficiency and positional sense - something we haven't had from a defensive midfielder in recent seasons. Hall, Ferdinand and Phillips add a bit of class. Mohsni blows hot and cold more often than an air conditioner with a broken thermostat but he certainly entertains. What's not to like? I understand people's desire to see champagne football, but at least we are getting the ball up the park and away from the danger zone - we have been caught out by so many sucker punches in the recent past. I think we will get out of this league - hats off to Sturrock for making it look likely in only his second season, starting from the lowest possible base.

What he said!!

Another win and the run continues, but disappointed that we conceded 2 goals. Montano is too good for most defences though and his goal was class.
Mohsni booked again so no change there but his pass assist was brilliant.
Daniels proved he is human, letting the ball through his legs.
Not sure which players were under the weather but we have clearly forgotten how to lose and long may it continues.

Had to contend with texts from my Dad. Not sure why everyone is moaning about the side not playing well as I don't think I have seen us play well for weeks. As anyone that has played football will tell you there is a term called win ugly and I think that's what were doing. It's going to be near on impossible to play your way out of this level. It's about winning at all costs and we did that once again. That is all that really matters at 5.45p,m.

If you're obsessed with statistics then the only one that matters is D&R 2 SUFC 3

We all expected it to be such an easy game but fair play to Daggers, they were hugely improved on the team that we played in the JPT and the West Ham loanee was a major factor in that. I'm told we played a 4-3-3 formation but to me it looked more like a 4-5-1, and I found it difficult to understand what Dickinson was supposed to do with all those balls pumped forward when there was no-one with him for him to knock it on to. I felt Harris should have started alongside him really, the two of them together would have made a massive difference as their defence looked incredibly shaky in the first half in particular.

I have a real problem with Kalala, Ferdinand and Timlin playing together in the middle. It always seems that one of them shines but the other two struggle, yesterday I thought Kalala was the one to suffer most and that Timlin's creativity was stifled by him continuously having to help out in defence. Ferdinand had one of the best games of his season so far, and hopefully that will have impressed the West Ham bods who were probably there keeping an eye on their own boy.

Daniels had a howler for the 1st goal, he won't enjoy watching that played back to him, but defence just don't seem to want to tackle. Too many of them also get pulled in the same direction, was it three players around Montano when he shot? Phillips seems to have taken over as the "senior" partner in the centre, Barker hasn't been anywhere near as consistent as we'd become used to.

I believe that Mohsni got booked for over celebrating the 1st goal though I didn't notice it myself. There was definitely something going on with the supporters on that side though, and several of our team went and had words with him until Ryan Hall eventually went over and physically pulled him towards the right wing and away. I thought Hall was very quiet, whether that was because Timlin was more concerned with defensive duties and so wasn't feeding him neat passes or not I'm not sure.

Far too much hoofball for me, we've been playing better when it's been on the floor and it was far too predictable, long ball up towards Dickinson or Mohsni. Mohsni was winning everything in the 1st half against their no.3 but in the 2nd they seemed to have worked him out.

Very perplexed as to no subs being made, thought the game was crying out for some new blood and I'd have brought on Harris and either JJ or Sawyer for Mohsni and Kalala with about 20 minutes to go, to change things around a bit and stop Daggers reading our game play so easily. As I've said before though, if we can go out there and win these kind of games then I'm hopeful for the season as a whole, as it's been these "easy" games that we've had an all too familiar habit of losing in previous seasons.

If I had a £ for each time in the past we have played a team at the bottom and lost I could have afforded a season card this year.

It is good to keep beating the clubs at the bottom ( and the top ), long may it last.

Ferdinand had one of the best games of his season so far, and hopefully that will have impressed the West Ham bods who were probably there keeping an eye on their own boy.

Why do you hope he impressed the Wet Spam Bods? I would rather they don't notice him at all.
