A KANE Ferdinand double helped Southend United see off Dagenham and Redbridge 3-2 in an entertaining Essex derby at Victoria Road this afternoon.

Based on those numbers and the sold out away fans section, you'd have to assume we made up more than 50% of the crowd today. That's fantastic!!

Delighted with the result and the fact that we stay top but we were poor. The only particularly good passages of play were the 3 goals and I can't understand why they can't maintain that all game. I am still yet to see us really take another team apart and I thought our line-up and tactics today were primed to do just that. Only Ferdinand really stood out today and the defence were unusually panicky.

define playing well.....we certainly dont play the pretty stuff, i definitely wouldnt say we are the entertainers but we have a very well organised team that are excellent at maintaining a good shape, we defend well as a team. Add to this some quality players scattered throughout the team that have the ability to win matches and id say yes we have been playing well but not in a pretty way, something that isnt mentioned enough imo is the fantastic workrate and commitment shown by everyone who wears the blue at the moment

Delighted with the result and Dagger's certainly gave us more of a game than they did in the JP although that would not be difficult
Great save from Luke late on and will gloss over there first goal.
They say the sign of a good side is when they still win when not playing that well so that is a positive as not many were at there best today and even the normally reliable Barker was below par.
Did anybody see what Mohsni did to get booked after the first goal as I think he got involved with there crowd but his reaction certainly made it seem he was hard done by ?.

Reality check, that was rubbish!

....good job that we were playing a pub team. Yes we keep winning, thunderbolts from Hall, far post headers from Phillips but today was just embarrassing. Winning mentality at the moment but when that ends can see us on the slide. Another plus of course is that the rest are pretty useless but can't help feel that stealing games just can't go on especially if a couple of key players go. We shall see, hope i'm wrong!
