Dagenham & Redbridge 1 The All-Conquering Southend United 3

Put your comments on tonight's victory here.

Another good away performance. Still conceded possession too cheaply at times for me by lumping the ball forward aimlessly when it'd have been better to put a foot on it and keep possession, but when we did hold onto the ball we looked very dangerous. Hall back on form, midfield worked well, Mohsni impressively calm and composed in the middle of the defence, Blair hard working and made lots of space.

Just annoying that our first goal against in 5 games was a freakishly wicked deflection off the wall from a free kick that should never have been awarded!

Thought Daggers were very poor however. They unfortunately look like a team on a downward spiral.

It wasnt a threat! just wanted to know what goes on with our own Southend faithful some make me sick #justsaying

Pretty one sided from start to finish. Hall was outstanding and barker / clohessy excellent. Other than those it was a professional performance against a side who repeatedly couldn't defend a simple ball through the centre of their defence. Other than the keeper having a blinder this could have been 6 or 7

Thought Moshni was very good, Hall was even better. Very enjoyable game and the confidence so clearly on display will be key for us this season.

Mohsni was excellent tonight and, most importantly kept a really cool head all night, even when provoked he did not react.

Thought Harris was a bit disappointing and we missed Dickinson up front.

Three in 3 for Harris now, great to see. And great to have Hally in such top form too, we have competition for places now and it's keeping everyone on their toes. Even "resting" players it seems we were still able to comfortably turn over a side who were a league above us last season.

Two things, Dickinson was mentioned in the line-up earlier but didn't actually make the XV1 in the end - was this just an error or was he injured in the warm-up? Seriously hope it's the former!

And did Granty come off as a precaution or will he be facing a spell out do we think?

Granty was limping and signaled to the bench he needed to come off. he looked in some discomfort apparently.

The first 20 minutes we absolutely battered them.. it was inevitable we would score. We then toyed with them without really going up through the gears. First half the Daggers were dreadful. In the second we got the penalty, and it would have been floodgates if we had scored it.. they scored with a freekick which was a) never a free kick, and b) going wide till it deflected in... at that point we just upped the gears again and won easily. Dagenham are struggling with injuries but they looked dreadful.. I would be worried if I was a supporter of them. We were comfortably streets ahead in all departments (except their keeper who was very impressive - his save from Harris' header was remarkable)..
Crewe next who lost to this lot on saturday..

We should of stuffed them about 8-1 with the amount of chances we had...they were dreadful, we played average but were still streets ahead of them.

915 Blues fan there.

Good win tonight, never looked in danger. There goal was a deflection, nothing morris could of done with it. Moshni and hall were outstanding. We should of had 4 or 5 but there keeper was excellent. Cant see him ryan hall being left out on saturday, but who do we drop? Leonard i imagine but will be harsh on the lad. Seemed like around 1000 southend there tonight. Had a look at the teams left in the southern draw, if we avoid charlton can see us going to the southern final . What a great few weeks to be a southend fan..

Echo the sentiments above, good performances from Hall and Mohsni, plus solid displays from Barker, Gilbert and Clohessy.

Sturrock held the ball up well and won balls he didn't have the right to win.

Timlin made several great runs and we really did murder them.

If there's a criticism it's that we must must MUST start killing teams off on a regular basis... 5 or 6 would not have been harsh but there we are, 15 mins to go and 1-1 looking at penalties. The third was the icing on the cake but it was also the last kick. On another day we'd draw or maybe even lose.

Enjoyed tonight. Mohsni stood out for me the most, won everything at the back, played well, kept cool.
Clohessy as always doing good on that right flank, pushing forward, getting back, packed with energy the lad.
Pretty solid from everyone really, Kalala again doing what he does best, glad Harris has got his 3rd goal!

Thing I like about Timlin is that he doesn't mess around, he is an attacking player but he hardly loses the ball and just adds that support for us. Hall was simply brilliant.

Hardly any empty seats at the away end, filled the place, so we should as it's quite local. Daggers were poor to be fair, there goal was lucky too. Shame about Hall missing the penalty, could of got a hatrick.

Really enjoyed tonight, little bit iffy getting there with the traffic but not too bad via A127 and down through Emerson Park etc.

On the subject of the traffic, A13 was closed westbound between M25 and Wennington after a van went into the back of and under a lorry, please spare a thought for the van driver and his family and friends tonight as he was declared dead at the scene despite the best efforts of the emergency services and the air ambulance. There but for the grace of God..... RIP.

Thought Victoria Road is a tidy little stadium with bit of character about it and the away stand, which we pretty much filled, top effort, was good. Thought it a little bit of an own goal on Daggers part though that the away side come out with their supporters right behind them from the first second on the pitch must give the away side an immediate lift!

Agree with just about all the analysis on here.
Hall's first goal was outstanding, lovely piece of opportunism with the quick throw, great anticipation from Hall followed by a sublime first touch topped off with a top class finish. Only down side from Hall was a very average penalty, but heigh ho!
Impressed by Moshni as well, epitome of controlled calmness tonight.

Overall good performance tonight, as Cricko said, it could have been 8 and that wouldn't overly have flattered; this squad now seems to have a real belief in itself but just needs that little bit more of a ruthless edge to kill games like this off earlier.

All in all a good night out, and home with dinner/supper by 11pm!

Very impressed with the away facilities. The set up under the stand is fantastic - decent loos n'all! Not so impressed with the loos at the other end of the stand where you had to paddle through a huge puddle! Oh, and a word to the people on the gate, if you're going to tell people to sit anywhere, then don't try and sell a block booking of 10 to someone for specific seats! Nearly caused a mighty rumpus, not as if it was necessary at all when most got there with a fair bit of time to spare.

Anyway, it was quite clear from the 11 outfield players warming up before the match that some had been delayed. Not convinced at all by Kalala, Timlin and Grant all on the pitch and felt Kalala suffered from having an extra bod there. Timlin and Grant both unlucky with shots, had a horrible suspicion the penalty wouldn't go in (I'd have taken Timlin to take it) and we had a ref who made some utterly bewildering decisions - mainly against....one of which lead to their goal. I'm not so sure it would have missed had it not deflected off the wall, but I do think Morris would have dealt with it. If we'd started that game with Dickinson and Harris then I think it would've been a stroll in the park. We really missed Dickinson's aerial prowess, and I didn't think I'd be saying that when he was wearing his lead boots! Word for Blair who worked his socks off and put some great crosses into the box. I've said before I feel he'd be better suited as a wide attacking midfielder.

Interesting to see the celebrations between Hall and Grant after Hall's 1st goal (excellent photo on the OS incidentally) following some rumours I've heard about them not getting on.

Defence played great, Leonard had little room for a run up for his throws so adapted them to standing ones which again, without Dickinson weren't as effective. He did have an audacious "shot" from just outside our penalty area that almost caught their keeper out though! Mohsni had a great game, very disciplined and won everything in the air. All in all, a game we should've killed off much earlier, but the right result in the end.

I did note a bit of frustration on the OMT, when they equalised, stating that we should have been out of sight by that time. However, I never actually thought that we weren't going to win. I think that perhaps the confidence that exudes from the team at the moment, is also manifesting itself in the supporters.
