Starts on Sat with the first three stages in England. I'll be watching the second stage as they come into Sheffield and pass yards from my house.

A shame there's no Wiggo this year.

I've been reading these interviews with Froome which are interesting - the interviewer doesn't avoid the difficult questions and I don't think Froome comes across particularly well.

Froome is a bit of a prick. Good cyclist though.

Looking forward to being in Leeds for the Grand Départ on Saturday.

Betting wise, I am on Vincenzo Nibali at 40s for KOM and Tejay van Garderen at 33s for GC. He is now a fair bit longer than that, so shows what I know!

Anyone going to watch it when it wheels through our great county of Essex?

Wondering where the best place to view it from?

Any thoughts?

When I first saw the route I picked Finchingfield as a nice spot to spend the day and watch the festivities...

Then every newspaper , magazine etc in the country made the same decision and its now listed as a prime spot in all the guides , so it will be rammed.

Epping forest may be good , but having seen the Tour of Britain a couple of times, unless you get a spot at a very slow bend, the cyclists will be gone in seconds, Highlights on the TV for me.....

Seen the tour twice.

Once in France, when it passed yards from my parents-in-law's house in Beziers and once in Spain when it went by the EOI, where I was teaching a summer course,in Terrassa.

Boring.:zzzzz:

You're better off watching it on TV (if that's your thing).

Yep........

Best part of the whole thing, get a good spot and jump around and wave like mad and watch out for water bottles my boy got two moviestar ones last year.
One of my all time fav memories of the tour is my monster-in-law getting hit in the head by a sausage thrown by the caravan, enjoy its emense.

Was lovely seeing them on the tv riding through some of the Dales areas I know so well, and great work on the shots away from the bikes...Aysgarth Falls was particularly well shot.

Thanks for that.

Leeds was amazing yesterday. Wonderful atmosphere, couldn't believe how many people - police estimating over 200,000! We got to the Headrow, about 300 yards from the start, three hours before they set off and still couldn't get a place on the railings. By 1030, the crowd was six deep in places.

So anyone planning on watching it today or tomorrow, get to your spot nice and early!

Seeing how he outsprinted Sagan you should have backed him for the green jersey instead....

Don't like that KOM bet as an outright. The only way Nibs wins the KOM is by beating all the big names on pretty much every mountain top finish and winning the Tour in the process. I just don't see him as being that dominant.

It'll probably be a Frenchman (Pinot, Rolland, Edet, Riblon etc) but for a longshot bet what are Chris Horner's odds? I don't fancy Rui Costa for GC so he'll probably get a free hand. He can definitely climb and he's got an excellent tactical mind for getting into the right breaks etc (see last year's Vuelta). I don't think he's got much form but he didn't last year either....

I'd be looking out for Daniel Navarro as well. What are his odds?

Just seen the caravan go past and now have a polka dot cap.

Just to counteract Barnablue, I saw the caravan in Kent a few years back and it was great. :winking::thumbsup:

came past my house just after three o'clock today - can see this being a regular prelude to the tour - we know how to do sport in this country.
