Cycling Shorts

BoyWonder2

2024, the year of the Shrimpers ⭐🦐
Bit of help required guys and gals.

Last weekend I tore me hamstring playing football and am out for 4-6 weeks which should be okay for a come back when my football team fly to Italy to take on our name sakes. One of the lads did it a few seasons ago and said I'd probably need to wear cycling shorts to keep the muscle warm when I come back. The physio hasn't said anything about it yet, but was wondering where would be the best place to get it from.

Many thanks in advance.

You can buy them from pretty much any Sports Shop in town....or cycling specialists. The one opposite Chalkwell Park would probably do them.

THings have moved on slightly over tha past few years though and you may find that one of the "supporters" that you can get (like for knees and elbows) would be better suited!

Don't buy proper cycling shorts, these will have a pad stretching from front to back sewed inside them.

Under Armour or Nike do football specific lycra (or neoprene) shorts which will be a lot more suitable for the purpose you want for them.

Many thanks so far guys.

Under Armour

Can't find nothing for Nike, but JJB always have a shedload of Nike Pro underlayer things, shorts included

I use prosport support shorts, made of the same neoprene stuff as the knee, ankle etc supports. They are quite thick and may restrict movement a bit.
It will be just a case of warming the muscle up thoroughly so you may be better off with an extensive warm up in the support shorts and then playing in a lighter lycra short.
Get to see a physio so he can remove the scar tissue build up and do plenty of stretching exercises (Every day not just before training and playing) .

also remember that depending on the standard being played, the "undershorts" must be the same colour as the Kit shorts
