Does anyone use it? Whats it all about and has anyone had any returns from it yet?

Just looking into other ways of investing some of my savings as banks just don't give you great interest.

I used it to donate to the Caterham F1 effort but theres no return on that one. If you don't want to gamble on the stock market you could always buy a few premium bonds.

A Santander 1-2-3 current account is pretty decent if you don't have one already, I get about £600 a year back in interest/cashback.

Basically it gives you the chance to either invest or pitch a business to try and get the money required. But I'm wondering if anyone has invested in any of these companies or if it's worth it at all?

It's dragon den - but you're the dragon and it's your cash! I've been looking at it for a couple of months now. Just about to have my first investment taken - a couple I've backed before have failed to get the required investment backing.

Basically it is very high risk investing, only invest if you can afford to lose the lot, because most of the companies will fail. If you are a taxpayer there is some tax relief that can partially mitigate your losses. Only have a few percent of your savings in this type of shares. Read all the documentation that the companies provide to try and decide if you want to invest, don't invest on impulse, have a think about things. Try and think if the company has a competitive advantage - or with some of them even a product that is sell-able, are the assumptions reasonable? If you like the product/company then you need to think about what you're getting in return. Is the valuation of the equity on offer reasonable? Or are the owners in dreamland?

Hope that helps.

Tell us more Matt

If a company doesn't raise the finance they've requested in the required timescale then their pitch is effectively cancelled and no funds are taken from any investors that have said they will invest during the pitch.

The investment that's about to be taken is a company called tracemyfile. It allows people and organisations to trace and control how their files/content are used on the internet.

No Matt I meant tell us about the people you are investing in.
