Could Tilson be forced out?

palexander

Life President
The administrators (if appointed) could certainly remove Tilson from his role.

Happened to Jim Gannon at Stockport when they called in the administrators.

The Administrators will look firstly at the book and to trim the financial side of the business first. Till will be the last thing on their minds. Pitch success equal financial success. Even administrators know that!!

Administrators are not there to make money - they are there to get debts paid off as quickly as possible. No good saying Tilson has a 5 year plan - thats no good.

Jim Gannon was doing a (relatively) good job at Stockport when the admins let him go.

Assets will be got rid of, which will mean the entire playing staff up for sale and redundancies from admin and football staff - of which Tilson (and Brush) are very much in the firing line I would think.

Their season had finished and they were making short term decisions for the club to survive until a buyer could be found. We are in the middle of the season and whilst there will likely be redundancies Tilson is highly unlikely to be one of them.

the first thing to go is a Youth set up and because of lake of players in the team it means we cant sell any one of our players

Is that set in stone? I'd have thought given the circumstances the saleable ones would go first and the youthies be promoted to full 1st team players.

It's certainly a possibility. As you say, administrators are there to pay off debts as quick as possible and that includes getting rid of high earners at the club - Tilly certainly would come into that bracket.

players are only saleable in january (or at least, not instantaneous)... so i'd imagine an immediate cut would be the youth academy.

No I dont believe this will happen. Stop scaremongering.

Whether this is scaremongering or not will depend on the totality of the Club’s creditors. Does anyone have any idea of our liabilities beyond HMRC?

If it is only HMRC, then the Administrator is likely to wait on the outcome of the planning application and possible payment via Sainsbury’s. If not, then the Administrator has a legal responsibility to reduce expenditure to a level consistent with payment of as much of those liabilities as quickly as possible, in the shortest possible timescale, and secure a return to solvent trading if this is achievable.

Given that we have no significant assets beyond the value of the playing staff, this could mean a fire sale of players in January plus staff redundancies. The Administrator will not be concerned about the position of the Club in football terms, just the realisation of assets to pay debts and the reduction of the paybill to bring the Club into solvent trading.

In this situation, everything is up for grabs (just ask Weymouth-where the manager and entire first team squad were made redundant mid-season), so Tilly, Brush and everyone else is at potential risk. The only upside is the first person off the payroll is likely to be the Chief Exec.

As I said, what happens will depend on what we owe and to whom. If we owe more than our asset value together with short term income projections then a CVA becomes appropriate.

That's far too reasoned a first post. :O
