Good debate on SSN about the cost of policing a football match

Should the Clubs be paying more or should it be the public

Currently the Clubs only have to pay for the police that attend inside the ground but any Police Officer, van, horse, or dog outside the ground have to be paid for by the police, there fore the tax payer

In London last year the bill was 6 million and only 2 million of that had to be paid for by the Clubs the rest by tax payers......like you all i love football but if you did not would you be happy paying for the police that operate outside the grounds on match day.

like wise, should football clubs be expected to pay for Policing of the streets of London???

It depends, PL clubs with their ill-gotten 39th game riches, yes.
Lower league clubs struggling to make ends meet then no.

Personally, the police are really starting to get on my t1ts with their "we won't cover your event unless you pay us extra £££'s" mentality. A classic British Premier Calendar cycle race has just been called off due to the cost of policing it & the inflexibility of the local constabulary to allow another force access to their area. It's not as if they can truly say they're keeping all the scum off the streets of the UK & that they're too stretched to cover sporting events is it? W*nkers!

It must be the easiest job in the world policing football matches because most of the wanabe trouble makers make themselves so ridiculously easy to spot.
