Cort and Warren

Dont know if this has been mentioned but in the echo cort reveals he would like to stay at southend and is in talks with a 2 year contract.

Also like a good striking partnership the two centre backs have to have a good partnership along with the keeper. Cort was awefull at the start of the season, warren wasnt that great either and emberson/robinson in goal. since flahavan came back and of late cort and warren have really gelled, despite the goals we have conceeded (set pieces and longish range efforts) they have both been a rock at the back. both throwing themselves into tackles and blocking shots. they along with flahavan have built an understanding and should be kept on next season. if these players are released we may well start leaking sloppy stupid goals again, untill the new partnership has gelled, after christmas and is too late. I think at the start of the season cort missed flahavan and phil whelan (not very vocal but led the defensive line well and helped cort). Also look at corts lack of yellow cards this season, picked up his firts yellow in 78? matches the other week, thats very impressive for anyone but a centre back that is superb. next season we dont want our defenders picking up yellows and wont commit themselves into a tackle in fear of being sent off, or facing suspension.

I'd be more than happy for Cort and Warren to be our centre back partnership next season. They seem to be linking up really well now.

Yep, Cort and Warren get my vote. Not too convinced about Flahavan though. I still think we need someone who really takes command and our lad simply doesn't do that well enough ... still ...

A new keeper is a must I think. Flav needs some pressure for his place.

Flvs deffinatly needs some competition in goal! but i could see us having a slolid back 4 ext season with jupp cort warren and a new left back!(serlos bring him back tilly)

I love to have Sergio back. But I think by his own admission Searle's professional playing days are over. (He's currently at Forest Green btw) ...

Cort and Warren definitely have my approval for CBs next year, with Hunt backing them up in times of injury or poor form.

We already have the left back in Nicky ! Best form of defence is attack . And he holds teh ball very well and is also able to take the ball from the air (thus taking out long range passes ) quick v good at tackling

warren and cort at the back. i spoke to cort in the car park and said 'will u sign for next year' and he said 'yes'. so he has his intentions set out.

I agree that flavs does need maybe a big goalie to partner as it is added preasure and mayb he can help him in his confidence in the area catching crosses. Just an idea.

Cort and Warren IMO are one of the best defensive partnerships in the league. Both have good pace and good aerial ability. Where Cort is brilliant in the air, Warren is extremely good at covering and making important challenges. However Wilson yesterday was far from impressive. Duncan Jupp is one of those players where he can play a blinder or a shocker. However i would gladly have him as my right back.

How many times have we conceded 2 goals in a match this season?

We need to get rid of Cort and bring in a tall centre forward who can header the ball. 12 months ago I didn't think I would be saying that, but let's face it we can't go up if we can't defend a corner/free-kick. Either we replace Daryll with someone who can claim crosses or we replace Cort with someone who will clear everything.
