As it stands we have just 8 players signed to the club for next season with options on a further two. PB had better get talking soon to those he wants to keep around the place. We have two keepers no centre backs two full backs two wingers one young attacking centre mid a striker who hasn't set the world alight by any means with options on Tims and 25 minute Ranger. Not a lot and not balanced at all

Like Payne and Worrall, this should have been done towards the end of the season before The season in which his contract expires.

Perhaps it has but Brown talks enough in the press about his concerns so it seems unlikely that this is one of them.

I don't think any of those are going to cut it in The Championship.

To be fair that's not a bad core available for next year. It might be being harsh but the only one of the out of contract players we should be busting a gut for is Lenny. Plus Wordsworth if his newly injury-free status (he admitted in his interview he was struggling for the whole of last season with this problem) means he gets back to his best.

of that lot there is not many you'd offer a new contract to this early in the season, maybe Kyp and controversially Mooney as he seems to put a shift in.

as for the others they need to make a decent fist of this season. I for one don't mind players not getting long term contracts early, firstly the club has to honour it if we go down and secondly it might keep them hungry and eager to impress, just look at adebayor as to what that kind of motivation can do

Ferdy, Kyp and Lenny you would want here next season. As for the rest, not overly bothered. Would like to see Batlokwa and any other under-21's with decent potential signed up too.

Having said that, I wouldn't really have much faith in Brown at all if we were going to do a big rebuilding job next summer. If this summer was anything to go by then it would be a disaster.

Barrett will retire and Ferdinand will sign for a Championship club probably. I can only see him being in League One for one season to get regular football. Which leaves us with Sokolik and Thompson... Inniss I read will be out of contract and could be a possibility.

It's going to be interesting. I think we'll be lucky to have three centre backs, being Sokolik, Thompson and Inniss. But that depends on Brown and whether he thinks they're worth a contract.

We could have no centre backs. Scary. It was hard enough replacing one!
