Computer help needed

My PC's a bit up the creek - it won't open any programmes at all - it will boot, into normal and safe mode. I did a AVG scan on Friday night which picked up 40,000 infected files, but stopped itself when to trying to clean these.

Since then, I can’t even run the programme, or any other programme, apart from using Windows’ own diagnostics. I fear I have a Trojan, but without being able to scan for viruses, it makes it tricky.

Also, when the PC is booted, a box comes up, saying: Buffer Overrun detected – and the end of the programme looks like Google toolbar. I have uninstalled Google Toolbar and it still comes up.

I’ve tried System Restore, which on the first attempt, didn’t’ solve anything and on the second, ended up not working.

I did have a problem with the PC re-starting all the time, but I’ve stopped that happening now. Also, sometimes my partner gets the BSOD, but not me for some reason, just programmes not working at all. Am I missing any drivers or is my PC infected completely?

Cheers

I had this and it royally screwed up my PC. The only way around it was to format my hard drive and reinstall everything. Total pain in the ****, fortunately I didn't lose anything too important.

You have learned the hard way of downloading pornographic material off of the internet. I suggest you buys DVD's in the future.
